Wow, the whole page is about UFO-like things happeneing EXTREMELY close to where I live I will have to check some of these things out when I get back home in June...
Freaky, thanks!

absorbentishe 05-12-2004 06:27 AM

Damn, that's really freaky.

Church 05-12-2004 09:45 AM

I wish stuff like this happened near my house, heh.

iamtheone 05-12-2004 10:39 AM

Did this just happen or was this back in 1949?

absorbentishe 05-12-2004 02:03 PM

I'm in a norther ohio city, and all we get is rain and snow from the sky. Dammit, I want to see something like that!

Rekna 05-12-2004 05:54 PM

what kind of a 911 service has people beep into their system so they have to put others on hold?

StickODynomite 05-12-2004 06:25 PM

i was thinking that too, Rekna. Was that lady the ONLY one working ? lol

My uncle had his scanner on a few years back and he heard numerous calls about a UFO. Aircraft were scrambled, nothing was found, and the whole incident was denied by police when asked the next day.

I'm sure it's possible if it was a small town. And if it wasn't an emergency, I don't see why an operator would hesitate to answer another call.

Speed_Gibson 05-19-2004 09:25 PM

they are using a WAV on their site? Seems much more reasonable to me use Ogg-Vorbis - q6 or thereabouts and make it easier for everyone. It is only 1.5 MB but that still is bit large to DL for folks stuck on dialup.

Pretty freaky stuff. Wish I would see something like this!

.ogg are a pain in the ass. I'd never heard of them until today and I had to download 4 friggin programs just to run the damn things. I much prefer .wav files. They can be played by everything. And if you're on a mac, then that's your own damn fault. :D

just takes one program; both WA 5.03 and Foobar2000 (win32) and XMMS (*nix) have full support 'out of the box'. My audio collection consists of Wavpack/Musepack/Ogg-Vorbis/Ape/Flac/mp3/mp4 (AAC in a container)/and whatever else I am forgetting. My personal lossy preference is .mp4, but the latest Ogg-Vorbis builds have had me reconsidering lately.

Still nothing ontopic to add, so I will 'exit stage left' now.

edit: wish I had a Macintosh running system, considering adding to my debt load and purchasing a 12" iBook or Powerbook relatively soon.
