Has bin laden been captured?

So what's the story with all these rumors about the clown prince of death and darkness being captured? Why if he's caught would it not be good to let it out so to speak?

I dunno...seems to me if he has been found it would be a big win to let out for mr. bushy.

Bingo. But let me ask you this.

Would it be more effective for Mr. Bush to release that information now, 6 months from the elections, or later on. Say, 1 month before elections when that will be fresh in your mind that Mr. Bush is a war hero?

If you ask me, I'm sure they've caught him, but I think they killed him in the act. He's probably on a block of ice right now or something.

What if he got blown to bits and they are waiting DNA? How long does that take?

Maybe he is captured or killed by another country....

Maybe he is dead and his body will never be found....

After getting bad info for the last few years, maybe the Bush administration is getting their facts together on this one.

A DNA test should be able to be done within a day.

I have doubts as to the accuracy of the Iranian reports though. Their recent "elections" should show that things are not always as they are purported to be over there.

I think they're better off finding the guy before the end of the summer, because I've seen this idea of calculated electoral opportunism popping up all over the 'Net. Too many people are waiting cynically for it to happen, and I don't think the usual right-wing apologists would be prepared for the backlash of disgust. Either that, or he's "captured" merely days before the election, throwing everything into a tizzy and yanking the millions of swing voters to the right before Kerry's campaign could muster a response.

More than likely it was up to the brim with it.

For some reason I can't imagine how anyone, even governments, could keep this kind of information (if it were true) on the hush. If the most well known terror leader in the world were captured, there's bound to be a leak.

I haven't heard wind of this at all. Will be interesting to see what happens or when/if they say anything about it. Usually takes up to 72 hours for DNA testing if they are running only one or two tests... requires lots of time and is the reason that so many crime labs are bogged down because of the advent of DNA... many criminals want appeals in hopes of getting out on DNA... so the testing has to be done and can sometimes take months because of all of the cases a lab may have to work on.

yeah she be making me believe her a lot too; she is always on the Montell Williams Show.

But yeah I remember her being on his show for the New Years predictions show they always do back in '97 and she predicted that Clinton would leave office under scrutiny and then someone else would come into office and something major would be revealed during their presidency and they'd be kicked out of office and a new law would be put into place allowing Clinton to come back as President again.

Now how much bullshit is that??? So yeah ever since then I always doubt everything she says. She also has a lot of wacked out ideas about aliens having the cures for our diseases on earth and stuff that I think is just bogus so I dunno. She's entertaining to watch nonetheless *shrug*

I highly doubt they've found him. Assuming he was captured, it'd be nearly impossible for the U.S. to keep the story under wraps. There's too many possible leaks, both from within Afghanistan itself, and from common soldiers within the Army. Further, it's doubtful that they'll capture him anytime soon. My dad spent some time in Afghanistan in the 1980s as part of Freedom Medicine, and saw the Afgahistan mountain ranges where Bin Laden's purported to have been hiding firsthand. According to him, the sheer amount of cul-de-sacs, trails that lead nowhere, underground cave tunnels, and other difficult terrian make cornering someone there a virtually impossibility. Add that to the fact that the people around that area worship the ground Bin Laden walks on, and you've got a manhunt that's beyond the capabilites of the U.S. military.

I don't think they've found him either. However, I am leaning towards thinking the U.S. has more information on his whereabouts than they are willing to tell us. If they "find" him during the summer or closer to election time, that would be too sneaky for even a skeptic like myself to comprehend.

He's a like a 6'6" twig on a respirator right? I mean, how damn hard could it be to catch this fucker?? I really wonder if he hasn't been captured or killed. Or maybe he is just the 1987 hide and seek champion, who knows.

I never figured we'd see Saddam taken alive either and I was wrong on that. I always expected him to be "found dead" in order to make it easy. However, he'll stay in a military prison locked up for the rest of his life most likely.

Give that man a cigar, I think we have a winner.

Really, it doesn't matter if we get him or not. The man is close to death, most his power base is shattered, and the most the fucker can hope for is a long life of running and looking over his shoulder ever day to see if we are pointing a gun at him. If he isn't dead already. And if he is alive and we do find him, he's not comeing back alive. I know if I found him and had a gun, there would be a big problem with his "resisting arrest".

If the USA had OBL, his people would be going public with the fact that they haven't seen nor heard from him. It would benefit them to show that the American infidels are not reporting his capture. It would cause a lot of problems in the USA (more than we already have)

I think the more likely scenario is that we are 'watching' him. Letting him go around and meet with all his people, and identifying them, and we are slowly and surely unraveling his group. It's the smart thing to do. We can learn all their plots and plans and the US gov. will look really good for thwarting their attacks.

Who knows? He may have been blown to bits in the initial attacks

The latest tape of bin Laden was manufactured and released by the administration through an arab sleeper agent to use as evidence that he was not captured beforehand, and will be considered a foolproof debunking of any conspiracy theories that people concoct when the administration reveals that it has "caught/killed" bin Laden on November 1st.

At least, that's just my paranoid prediction that I think is fucking crazy, but if it actually happens I can point here and say "See, I told you so".

My bet is they know where he is (roughly) but don't want to round him up quite yet? Why you ask? Loose organizations like Al Kayda (sic I know) can function without their leader, and more than likely would mount some serious attacks should he be killed or captured.
The best bet for right now is to monitor his whereabouts, infiltrate and monitor as much of the chain as they can. You can bet your sweet ass that there will be a MASSIVE roundup of his followers right before he is picked up.

Seems like he's still out there. The problem OBL has is that the Americans will never agree to his demands. If he attacks America again, he's only going to make it worse for himself and his cause. Terrorism doesn't work with America.

I think they have no idea where he is, or who he's hanging out with, and I don't think they want to catch him. If they did, he'd be a martyr, and someone would step up and take up the "most visible figurehead" role. Its better for the US to keep him on the run, in hiding, because he's less effective that way. The al-qaida membership still sees him as their leader, but they never hear from him.

Well MAYBE if we didn't announce to the whole freakin world that we were gonna go after him in the near future and that we knew about weapons and stuff then MAYBE he wouldn't have had time to hide everything and flee. I swear, do cops call up a murderer and say "hey man, is it alright if we come by your house to arrest you for that mass murder you did a few blocks away? We're in the middle of eating and planning our plan of attack and we need some more time."??? I think not.

Hmmmm....oh wait. Wrong person. That was Sadam Insane. We had a chance to kill him a few times earlier from what I've heard. We should have killed him when we had the chance. I bet we know roughly where he is. We just have to be 100% sure or something. Taking too freakin' long tho. I'm ready to watch them both fry so I can order me up some fried Saddam and roasted Laden.
