Am I a thread killer?
 

Okay, I'm feeling excessively paranoid about this. While scrolling through several of the boards, I've noticed that I'm the last person to have posted in some of the threads. Now, I KNOW it can't be that my answers are the be all/end all to these topics. I'd hate to think I'm a thread killer! :( :eek: :hmm:

Usually that happens when a person posts something that is either conclusive, or that nobody has anything to respond with. I myself am a thread killer quite often because I either unintentionally hijack the thread, or say something that is so stupid, nobody knows how to even approach my post. So they don't.

well.. neither of you are thread killers as of now... but.. good luck in your persuit of bein a thread killer... i wish you the best! cheers!

One question, are you late joining the thread? If the thread has a lively discussion going, I doubt one post by you would kill it. I've seen lots of your comments followed by other posts in many threads. So, I'd say yes, you are being paranoid. But remember, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean 'they' are not out to get you.

Hopefully this comment will kill this thread! But I doubt it.

Dano, I don't think your a thread killer, at least, if there are any threads that youve killed, they only died because I missed them on the way down.. :D

I'd say in some cases that you could take being a thread killer as a complement. What do I know - I'm a rookie :)

Let me do it for you, numist. I am beginning to think that there isn't a thread on this entire board where I can simply make posts without being verbally attacked. Either that or I feel as though I'm being stalked. I don't suppose one can report every posting that falls in one of those categories, i.e. I think the paranoia forum was created especially for me.

I have the same problem. I think its because I try to solve the problem without fostering discussion. If you don't believe me just look at the philosophy board...

The philosophy board has been *really* slow lately. The reasons for that are up for debate, but it ain't you. :)

Personally I think why that forum's been slow is more of a philosophical problem than a thread killing problem :thumbsup:

The only way one can be an actual thread killer is if you don't point out the fact you at one time were a thread killer. Otherwise, I may come on here and ruin your prediction.

I HAD to wash the submit button..... if you look up farther Jam peed all over it... it was a terrible mess... I had to use bleach.

It's OK to be a thread killer. It happens quite a lot to me. Of course, it's much better to kill a thread than to anger people so much that you receive about 20 replies saying how much of an idiot you are.

LMAO! Well, by the looks of this thread (started 3 yrs ago by Dano) I'd think the chances of him being a thread killer is nil to none now! :lol:

At least thread killers can't be tried for murder. ;) But I like to think of it as that topic has been thoroughly discussed and there is nothing else to add. The only threads that are bad to kill imo are the Rate threads and the Say Something Nice thread. Those are the only threads where I'm like...hmm...why is no one responding?

And I think that the last person who posts in this thread will be the ultimate thread killer....Who's posting next? :hmm:

Good question Shesus, it all depends on who wants to respond on your post that also follows my post. This thread might not exist at all and I am just typing this all out in a dream.

I have also noticed that the life expectancy of a thead plummets when I'm around..............(ominous last post?)

Yeah, I seem to kill my own topics too. It's like if I reply to people, then suddenly no-one has anything to say. And I'm not paranoid...I think it's the ocean that lies between us...people can't relate to me...has anyone got a hanky?

People probably see your response as a resolution to the thread. They put their input, you respond to their input...there ya go. lol. The ocean isn't that big! Promise.

I have often wondered about being a thread killer on other boards. I don't seem to have that effect here yet.
However,I can feel my powers growing stronger, ... soon I will be the greatest killer of threads ever imagined, Feared by forum posters everywhere. The entire v-bulliten continuum will tremble at the mere mention of my screen name!!!!

Just as on individual threads....it wasn't "posts" that killed it....after the election last month....the conservatives, en masse, ceased to post....and now, apparently, if two days is any indication, the "rest of us" have stopped posting, too.

So....relax. Posting does not "kill" a thread, indeed......"not posting", is the death knell.....

i am surprised i am not a thread killer (or at least i haven't noticed if i am) because my idea of discussion is a little different than most, & my opinions tend to be so far off (from what other people think) they don't get responded to . . . just talked around :)

I don't know why, but everytime I kill a thread (or am the last poster) I relate it too the scenario when there is a room full of people having different discussions, and suddenly the room grows quiet, and you are the only person speaking (and in a loud voice), then everybody looks at you.

nice idea . . . . and sooner or later someone else starts talking again & people can forget you were the loud mouth person talking a few minutes ago

I kill off threads on a regular basis on forums all over the internet. Personally I consider it to be something of an honor. It seems to me to be a privilege, if you will, that I can supply the final words on a subject and leave people speecheless thereafter.

Whoever posts last on this thread will forever be the ultimate thread killer. Could it be me?

That happens to me all the time and I don't know why...Although most of the things I say make the room grow quiet so it could just be me not the comment. lol

I just had that experience on GD with my post on the "Letter to the Editor" thread (immigration). Literally, I posted in a very loud voice, and people stopped talking... :( But on the other hand, it is also kind of cool that it shut people up. :D
