getting a "reading"

One of my mom's friends is a psychic, and I'm meeting with her on Friday to have a reading done. I don't really know what to ask - part of me wants to ask her about my brother, but I don't know if that'd be kosher or not. I'd also like to ask her about something my friend Michael said about my brother and me not being "from around here" spiritually speaking. I've never had a reading before so I'm not sure what to expect. Any advice on what usually goes on? Does it depend on the person?

What's it matter...she's psychic, she'll already know what you're going to ask.

The old adage "dont judge a book by it's cover" comes to the fore here.

I firmly believe that some people can indeed have true insight into the minds of those that they come into contact with but it is rare (in my opinion) to be able to guide.

Most readers are just people that ask and lead you into things that relate to what you want to hear.

Take with a grain of salt and challenge if excited.

There's a palm reader in the house my mother grew up in. I keep wanting her to go in for a reading and see just how psychic this lady really is.
Which is my advice for you, lurkette. If you want to know about your brother, I think SHE should be able to tell YOU, without prompting. Otherwise, she's not psychic enough.

I don't believe in psychics, but ask something only you would know. If she doesn't give you a specific answer to your question, then she's bullshit.

Basically psychics engaged in what's known as cold reading. It's all a fraud. My advice is, have fun with it.

Beware of "cold reading" it's an effective technique so called 'psychics' can pull on you whereby they glean little pieces of information about you and take small guesses, you may not even realise that you're giving them ammunition. If you have to "give" anything to her, be very wary, don't give ANY info about yourself, if she's a psychic she won't need to ask you things. And if you really want to test her, wear a wedding ring (if you aren't married) and we'll see how accurate the reading is (sorry, I'm uber sceptical)

I got a tarot reading once, I thought it'd be just for fun and tell me I'd fall in love w/ so and so or go somewhere. I never had a specific question to ask so when I shuffled the cards she asked me to focus on what the most important thing I needed to know was. She was really good too, now I sort of believe in that stuff. Told me stuff about my brother and how not to get in a car w/ him cause she saw him getting busted soon. the strange thing was he had got busted for pot in a car like a couple days earlier..... I know thats a lil different, but I hope she tells you what u want to know.

The reading was odd - she was dead on on some things (knew that I worked with a woman who was going through some hard things, picked up on the transformative work I've been doing on myself the last few years), and other things just didn't seem to mesh (you'll get a phone call from a man in your past etc.). She did tell me that my brother is okay, and that he wants us all to move on (seems like a pretty safe assumption). Also that he wants me to not stay at my job that I don't really like. I didn't tell her that I don't like it, of course. Anyhow, it was interesting and I think I'll look at it as an exercise in self-reflection rather than a predictive tool.
