Does an alternate plane of reality exist? Wiccans talk of one called the Astral plane?

I have been to this 'astral' plane once conciously and by accident I wanted to see if I could slow my heart rate and breathing down to such a level where it was almost non existent. I ended up flailing around in a black existence and then falling back into my body and waking up. Alot more time than I thought had passed.

I at times have strong lucid dreams. So I'll put that out first. I'm also a big believer in god, devil, demons and angels.

One night I had this dream where I was in my room. I could see everything although it was a night. I went for a walk as I stepped out into the halway (you can see right past the kitchen into the lounge room) I saw a 'thing' in the living room going through my mothers writing desk. All I thought was that I have to destroy it. All of a sudden I have the sword of light in my hands and I run in through. It didn't die.. just disappeared. As I went back to my body I heared this spine chilling scared the crap out of me banshee like scream. I woke up instantly.

Anyways the next day I was being all proud of myself. I don't know why I did it I was like saying 'Come you demons.. challenge me.. I will slay you' and crap like that. Anyways that night I had a dream behind a dream. I remember dreaming but being somewhere else behind that dream at the same time.

All I know is that I was in this murky fog. There was no visible floor but whatever was beneath my feet was solid. I remember a few shapes appearing out of the murky blackness of my surroundings. Humanoid dark shapes.

They then jumped on me and began to tear me apart, limb from limb. The worst thing was wanting, oh so wanting, to wake up from the terror. But I couldn't. So I stayed there and watched my self get dissembowled amoung other fun things. Not much phases me these days Violence wise.

But the thing was that when I woke up my hands were shaking for the next three days and I couldn't keep my thoughts straight.



You lot had anything strange like this happen?

yessir, i ave had a few cases as such.

i have been thinking a lot on parralel (sp) dimensions lately and it kind of makes sense.

all my dreams are in color, i taste, smell, feel at all times and I have no physic law to govern me. i, too, have fought.. but with reason.

the problem is sleep paralyses: it can be so real and ffake. but then again, SP may be a way for us to step _out_ into the realms. think: you rarely know if you're in the SP stage. you can't move at all. your memory is mostly wiped out.
your body is a defenseless shell.

this is the enemy of most people who see farther than others. seperating fact from fancy is difficult at best..

lucid dreams are very strange, they can be of anything and it seems completely real. (how i think they happen is that you are asleep and you wake up or whatever reason and go back to sleep and then the dreams are very intense and seem completely real.)

i had one a few nights ago. and after waking up i was brushing my teeth and realize it was completely a dream and not only that, but the stuff that happend really made no sense, not that it was confusing just that like, someone gave me a piece of fruit, i ate it and then a minute later i was hopping around on one foot, thinsg like that, just seem in the dream liek they are supposed to happen that way but its just weird.

if they are just lucid dreams and dont bother or scare you, i wouldnt worry about it really, i enjoy them they give me a laugh and something to thing about.

ah shit, i have the craziest dreams. like the one the other night involved me swimming in the carribean islands and a sniper a few miles away shooting other swimmers that were terrorists. Fucked up huh??

My dreams have been become more intense in the sense of realism. I can see myself talking and doing things and hear myself some of the time. I can see things and my dreams very often involve women.

Just last night I had quite a bizzare dream that I was in New York City, or some other Metropolis like it I think it was New York cuz someone else in the dream seemed to have said something about New York. So anyways in the dream I was walking along with my friend, it actually was one of my real life friends, and we reach this other persons house. And when we get there there are two women in Spanish dancer dresses doing a little song and dance. Then the person who owns the house where these ladies are dancing starting hitting me with a turtle! This made no fucking sense...At that point I left his house and started walking back into the City, the other persons house was in a strangely foliage (sp?) heavy area.

There was also a very drab beggining part where I was in some auditorium and this girl kept holding up small signs to me. It was after this auditorium scene that I just kinda appeared in the city.

Ya know the really strange thing about this dream was that all of the people in it, at least people I noticed, were people I actually knew! And I could totally identify them and everything. After I woke up I had to assure myself that stuff didn't happen.

ive awakened before and it feels like something is smothering me but there no one around. however i can still feel it and no matter what i do i cant scream or yell for help. all it takes is for me is to yell out the name Jesus! and whatever presence is there runs in fear. I too am a believer in God demons angels heaven and hell. ive had many other experiences with the spirit realm if you will. that is just the most recent thing that has happened to me

i make no claims to have experienced anything like this, but at the same time i cannot dismiss them as crazy, because of something i was thinking about one day. im sure it has happened to most of you that you are woken up by a sound that was also in your dream or something like it was in your dream... it happens all the time in movies too. But the wierdest part, is that EVERY time the sound seems to fit PERFECTLY into your dream, like the whole dream was building up to suit it perfectly...almost like your dream was tellin the future.

I have had lucid dreams where I realize I am dreaming and try to take control. Usually all I can do is control my own actions and the other people in the dream just try to move away from me. I suppose with enough practice I could control the whole scenario. The toughest part is actually realizing I am in a dream.
I do remember having a dream within a dream once. I was in a dream world where the typical dream things were happening, and then I woke from the dream. I spent some time in this 'waking' state only to realize there were strange things going on, like I was living in a different house with a dog I had never owned. When I realized something was wrong I woke up and found myself in bed in the real world. It was really a strange experience to realize my dream self had gone into it's own dream state.

Those dream in a dream things are weird, I never got used to that. The noise fitting into your dream at the right time happens to me quite often, too. I have been able to realize I am dreaming and take control of my situation. I remember I was outside some bar and a guy was yelling at some girl. I went over and told him to leave her alone and get a life. He punched me in the face and knocked me down. That's when I figured out I was dreaming and got up, walked to my cherry red 69 Camaro, pulled out a 44 magnum and blew his head off. I grabbed the babe and we got in the car....then I woke up..bummer...she was fine, too ;(

First of all, Get your Bible out and start reading it! You are being attacked by demons and if you don't use the power of God, which is God's word to fight back, they will destroy you.

I am a Christian and have dealt with being demon oppressed and I know what I am talking about. The devil wants to destroy you. Don't let him. You can't fight against him alone. When you challenged the demons, that night in your dreams they came and destroyed you. He wants to kill your soul. God is the only one who can help you fight the devil.

As far as another plane or dimension; I believe it is our Spirituality and we are not separated from it. It is with us always. If we don't recognize our soul or haven't acknowledged it then when something strange happens, we don't understand it because we don't understand our own soul. I have experienced an out of body experience and after it happened, I freaked out. It scared me. I was shaking and didn't understand what just happened to me. Thank God I had a friend who did. He explained it to me. I became the Spirit which is inside of me and for a brief time I experienced life as my Spirit. A Spiritual being is inside all of us. It is who we really are. And anyone of us can have an out of body experience. I didn't even know that such a thing existed until I had one. I've only had it happen once since then and this time afterwards, I was calm and even felt tranquil because I understood what happened and that it was the Spiritual part of me.

I didn't leap into another realm or a different time zone. Although I am not disputing the existance of these things, I am just stating what I believe to be happening. Sometimes it's hard to find answer to things like this. Maybe this will help you, I hope so.

Demons are funny things.. I don't screw around wiht them anymore.. well not like I did in this post.. I see their shadows everynow and then, and also the faint feeling you get when they're watching you..

See the problem was that I got haughty and proud, they saw that weakness and exploited it..

Holy crap! How'd I miss this thread? (probly was on vacation...) I have so much to say.. to everyone. Bear with me. i'm gonna go thru the list, so Golden I might respond to you twice....

Golden & Z: I am addressing both, as they kinda blend together, my answer does at least. Yes I have had experiences in my dreams. I dream as if I were awake. I see in full color, think like normal, smell, taste, feel, and anything else i may have left out here. Heck in my dreams I can also breathe underwater. (ALWAYS can breathe underwater) I have had my experiences with the devil.. tho that particular experience I wasn't sleeping, I was fulling awake when I entered another plane of existance.. one that parrallels ours. (isn't funny how even in D&D, that the Astral plane parrallels ours in time and space? ) But thru that experience, My entire body was shaking, and most violently I might add. A friend explained to me that that is an evil spirit trying to get inside of you... to control you. As for your humanoid dark shapes? I'll get to that soon, as someone elses post is most similar to an experience of mine.
Also Sleep Paralysis, this is the distrubing part. It takes a shitload of analyzation to figure out when it hits you or not. I remember checking out a site that held its symptoms, and I didn't exactly fit. The only one that fit well was me not knowing if I was awake or not, and that well.. i couldn't move my body. But there was a LOT more to it. First off, I remember the WHOLE episode, thats not common, some people will, but it simply isn't a common thing. Past that, It only happened to me when I rolled onto my back... I still don't know the significance, but when I wake up on my back, my hands are crossed over my chest EVERY time. Much like what you see when someone is in a coffin... freaky eh? There are a few other things, and I'll get to that soon.

Z: Oh I almost forgot to add! The paralysis and another reality.. Yeah perhaps its just a way for our spirit to wander a bit.. our body is in place, but our spirit wanders. I mean what is our body with out our spirit/mind (they are one in the same .. in not they are forever linked)? Nothing but a shell.. an empty shell. Our body is what a space suit is to astronauts. So maybe its not moving, because our spirit is kinda leaving to go forth. I mean, in the other plane of reality.. out body isn't something that is needed, only our spirit.. So think about that.. and paralysis kinda makes some sense. sometimes when we still are "dreaming" in bed and are paralyzed.. we're merely looking intothe realm, or our room has become the doorway, so we're kinda there but kinda not, which adds to our confusion. Lots to think about. And again like you said Z, you gotta figure out what is real and what is fake. Its tough, but fun for me to analyze.

MacGnG: Heh heh, personally I think you've just read WAY too much Calvin & Hobbes, and you can't disagree with that much. But past that I mean, look at your dream. you were brushing your teeth, then you ate some fruit... (sounds like calvin).. then you hopping around on one foot.. Iktoweya!!!: Amazing how much you said with such a little post. See, remember what I was talking bout earlier? My sleep paralysis dream? yeah... See what it was.. is a Dark Humoin entered my room. It was a HUGE BULKY(as in muscles) monster/human thing, it was black, but translucent.. and it had obvious red eyes. Althought my room was dark.. I could see fine, as if my contacts were in. (looking into another plane of reality are we?) I am a firm believe in God, angels.. both good and bad. Oh and to point out, This dream happened to me continously for over at least a month.. EVERY SINGLE NIGHT (not common for PS).. It probably went on for more than a month.. I just lost count after it happened that many times. Also, I was in a bad depression (as I later found out).. I had lost my entire identity and no longer even knew who I was.. I started to doubt everything.. me, my life, God.... I could NOT scream.. I'd try but nothing happened. Now this kinda sounds like some sort of demon attacked me doesn't it? Sure sounds like the prime time to attack. Well then went of for a long time. "He" would enter my room and laugh at me and make fun of me (pertaining to that which started my depression) and overall making me feel more and more helpless, putting me into a bigger and bigger depression. I still went the church, and learned a few things from my preist (born and raised catholic) that helped me through my depression. But whats the final part to this 'dream'? What happened to finally make them stop? One night I just gave up on trying to yell for help, rather I looked right into its eyes and spoke back! I professed my faith to that demon better than I ever could do again. I saw fear in its eyes, and it ran away, never to haunt me again. I remember saying something about "no matter what happens, God will always be at my side..." and then kinda pointing out that if he tries to do anything he'll have to go through both of us, and that since God was there.. I really had nothing to fear. Amazing huh?

Patrenka: Yeah speaking about and to god for help are great ways to help. But I don't believe he is the only help. He is the Nuke in the arsenal. But friends with a high faith can help you to pounce them. In fact, some individuals have the spiritual fighting prowess in them.. and can take demons down on their own. Risky Business, but some spirits just have the make up of warriors.... one man armies, even. (imagine a group of those people.. WOW!) They didn't really destroy them, as when you think about it.. Destroying doesn't help.. he needs the corrupted soul to succeed. If you still follow God and the devil kills you... you go to heaven.. this is why you don't see satan killing people left and right.. it doesn't help him one bit. But if you mean he was trying to corrupt him with evil.. if thats what you kinda meant with the destroying (seeing how he didn't die) then yeah I gotta agree with you.

No the other plan isn't really seperated. I believe it is in the same space as our plane, they kinda... co-exist on eachother. This would also help to explain why some of us can see spirits,.. or in my case feel them. I've never become one with my gaurdian, but I've faught along side her before. (a friend can see.. found out my gaurdian is a she, and very intellectual at that... and cunning). When you say you've experienced life as your spirit, do you mean in the spirit world? or what? I see our spirit as our mind.. so we're never really away from it. But our Guardian, they are beside us.. or at least somewhere near us.
I think i've had and Out of Body Experience, but it was really short. Its when I was (accidentally) Thwacked with an aluminum baseball bat knocking me out cold. I don't remember the events that lead up to when I wake up.. those memories are lies (thats another story), but I DO remember looking at myself about 15 feet away from my body... in the sky.... I feel that for that brief instance I was knocked from my body. Also when I fell.. I remember specifically being CAUGHT, before I hit the ground. My mind some reason says taht my sister caught me.. but she pitched the ball.... so how could she be behind me? I think thats just what my mind could make of it at the time. I saw my sister last as I fell, and I saw someone catch me....

GoldenOuroboros: Outside of dreams I've actually WALKED into the other plane. Specifically the area that holds HELL. Obviously this isn't something easily to believe.. I had problems believing myself,... and I went though it!!! But the whole experience... deserves its own topic, for now though... I did have the armour. MASSIVE armor.. I prayed for a solid 10 minutes... i think for armour armour armour. I say I think, because time simply does not EXIST in the other plane. Eternity... is when time is passing but not ending... and its terrible.. thats hell. But its not an eternity, as time passes (unless your in hell).. it just passes but it doesn't bother you a bit. I still had partial conciousness of THIS plane... and thats why it was confusing.. I was trying to relate the time of our world to that one.. where this really isn't any. So how long my whole experience was.. I simply cannot say... too confusing. But oh yeah, So I has the armour. I didn't need a sword or shield, as that wasn't my part in the battle. I prayed for half a dozen angels or so to help me out with that part. What I was doing was was freeing a friend from hell. Again.. I'll explain later at a later date. But After I had that armour.. I focused ALL of my energy upon him... Amazing stuff. The feeling of many angels around you.. guarding you..thats a cool feeling too. But I also have to agree, after having that.. I kinda fell in my faith too, and I'm still struggling to get back where I was.

Demons... I come across the all the time, but they are not inherently evil. I mean a demon is still an angel... a fallen angel.. but then again if they can breed, some would be born in hell wouldn't they? There are some I encounter a lot, either they live in my house, or its just a hangout. But Its funny, Once i stopped being scared of them, and treated them with the same respect as I give anyone else.... I got the same in return. They don't just scare me anymore or anything.. They just say "Hi" back to me. Its pretty cool. Though, on occation, they'll do something to freak me out... as a prank. this goes to my being able to "hear" spirits through "cold chills", and other types of feelings. (one time they did something, and i said back "Thats not funny guys" as I was overwhelmed with a feeling of "Oh yes it was!!" and tons of laughter after that... Again you don't have to believe me, but I'm not here to make stuff up.)

Also Golden, as i stated before i believe the Soul and the Mind are intertwined. I mean.. how much does your mind weigh? Your brain isn't your mind.. if it were, I'd be asking how much your brain weighed...

In our old house, both my husband and I had similar dreams of unseen evil. His happened a couple of times when he'd fall asleep on the couch, mine happened a couple of times after a long night at work.

Something invisible and very evil was either coming up or going down the stairs depending on where we were sleeping.
With both of us, we could not move in the dream. You could feel that something was coming, but there was nothing you could do about it and there was nothing there to see.

I've had dreams like that before, but he hadn't. It's still strange to know with out a doubt that I've felt pure evil in my dreams, but not ever in 'real life'.

I'm still not sure what to make of it. I miss that house sometimes, but I sure don't miss that dream - haven't had it since we moved, for whatever that's worth. There are factors in our lives, including his Crohn's disease, that could be part of the dream thing, but I'd had those dreams before I met him. I can remember two dreams when I was very young, one of them when I was five or maybe a little younger - that one I feel out of bed (we moved from that house that same year, so I know for sure how old I was), two (for sure) at my grandparent's house before I was 10, a large number of them in my teens, and then in the old house (not old as in age, just old as in 'we don't live there anymore' old).

I reckon that we have the warrior spirit Gak, well I reckon I do, just something I feel all the time, I feel as a warrior, I always have this urge to defeat evil. I think time does move in the astral plane where these other entities exsist.. Just I think I remember reading in the bible somewhere that it said that a human life spane is a mere blink to god.. so yeah..

For years I trained.. just training.. worked over moves in my head.. waiting for something. Always waiting.. tis strange.

yeah well compare that blink of an eye to our time... and it feels timeless. Its a feeling i really cannot explain. Hard enough for people to beleive I know the feeling. Yeah, we all have our types. Z for one, is a fucking badass Spirit warrior. He's someone I wouldn't mind walking along side anywhere, spiritually speaking. As I'd obviously love to walk with him in real life to, but thats beside the point. I have a friend that is a lot like that too. The difference is, he's the one that used to be in hell... or at least.. sorta contained.. its really quite complicated, and i'm not going to debate HOW he was there, seeing how you are not in hell until you are dead and judged..... BUT ANYWAYS.. He can see spirits all the time, just like you can see yourself in a mirror and as well as you can see TFP. On top of that he can hear them, and most of all, he understand HOW demons work... There is meaning to all that of why he knows, but again I'll save that for a later date, as it will make my current "novel" look thin. But he's a fighter, and he has all these tactics and what not saved up as well. Me, personally, I'll fight if I have to, but I prefer other ways. I'm more of the intellecual fighter in the spirit world (and my guardian angel is the same.. i don't find that to be coincedental at all). I like to trick them, or just confuse them.. confusion is an awesome weapon, I do so believe. I think i'm more like a Tank as well. I mean when I helped my friend out, I ignored the fact that I was about to walk into... HELL.. but rather went in willingly to fetch my friend. I thought of nothing but to get his ass outta there. Thats why I say I might kinda be the Tank. I had angels do the fighting... I did the rescue. Sure my part was huge, but if it had not been for thost angels, I'd probably be in a nuthouse right now.... assuming I somehow managed to leave hell at all....

Just remember, Warriors can fight, but they cannot get haughty about it.. Heck no one should. If you get too overconfident... you have just made yourself a target. And thats not a good thing. You never know, Supposedly some day the world will begin to end... perhaps the plan God has set for you, is to fight when the beginning of the end comes to. I feel he has final destination for all of us, but its up to us if we try to get there or not. It seems that you have been on your way all the time. You know its going to happen, but you don't know when, so you continually train. If you ever need help in a fight.. always remember God. If it lasts more than a day... there are others like us on the para board that can offer you assistance.

GoldenOuroboros, I don't think it's just one other plane of reality, I think we can create them in dreams at least. During a long bout of depression I had a series of lucid dreams that took place in this "world." The geography of it was always the same and so were the characters. If I knew anything about 3-d animation I could map out this world still. I dreamt in this world for about two years. Some of my friends think that because the details and the people were always the same, it's quite possible I was doing that astral travel stuff. Now that I look back on it, I realize it was probably my subconscious helping me sort out my messy social life at the time because when I analyze it, everything was a symbolic representation of someone real in my life. Also, if you believe in it, these dreams revealed what people call a "totem animal."

Most of my dreams aren't very realistic and rarely feel that way. My lucid dreams are the opposite, though. Like Z said, the dreams involve all five of the senses, but they are still strangely unrealistic with a realistic feel. Oftentimes I can fly and do things that you wouldn't be able to do awake (and it's really not that hard to do in a dream). The subject matter of these dreams also vary quite a lot. My dreams never include gods, devils, angels, or demons, but they do sometimes have talking animals! Heh.

Some people mentioned dreaming about things that happen in real life and having major dejas vu. It sounds like they're describing what is typically called prophetic dreams. Other people mentioned sleep paralysis. I'm no expert on this, but I read in a book that says in Chinese mythology, this is caused by a rock ghost/spirit thing. What it does is sit on your chest so you can't move any part of your body and sucks the life from you slowly. Something like that, anyway.

http://members.tripod.com/yumaparanormal/night_hag.htm there's a good explanation of sleep paralysis or "night hag" dreams;the ones I've had are so vivid, and scary! I can remember most of them;although I usually dream in color, with taste,smell, touch activated, etc.
One hypothesis is that if you often have s.p. you might want to get checked out for sleep apnea. Do you snore a lot? Wake up not breathing? Just an idea. I haven't had any night hag dreams since I started on my machine for sleep apnea.
