Paranoid about TFP
 

It's like there's thousands of people out there on the internet who are posting on a message board for the sole purpose of entertaining me and wasting my time.

I dig it.

But it freaks me out. :(

On a more serious note, the censorship here kind of freaks me out. A lot. I mean, it does'nt even leave a big block that says *censored* or something. If you disagree with the admins *poof* what you said disappears or changes. Its the one thing that really keeps me from feeling at ease in the community.

Does anyone else get kind of disturbed about this? I mean, i didn't even notice it until the whole TB thing a few weeks ago but it really bothers me now that I'm aware of it.

I'm personally glad of all the censorship that is done. If you want to see what kind of board that this could be, go look at some of the comment threads on fark. The mods here do an excellent job on keeping things here civil.

it seems to me that the conversations posted have some good back & forth. i haven't found a way to get edited, yet, so they can't be TOO strict.

don't want to seem like i'm glomming on to the party line, but if someone doesn't like the forum, there's a shitload of other ones out there, right?

Uhh, not really. Only if you break the clearly posted rules. Differences of opinions or ideas are never edited or moderated here, as far as I've seen.

You got a point there, i really enjoy this forum it has some really interesting people posting their ideas, and i have had no problem with the whole censorship thing

we get enjoyment from watching the things you do.

Moderated = good. Unmoderated = flame wars.
I remember one post where a member complained about not doing their community service required by court order. Nearly every other post each member got on his case about not taking responsibility for his actions. That was a perfect example of how dissenting opinions are welcom as long as they are not disrespectful. Calling the guy who made that post an idiot is disrespectul. Telling him he needs to take responsibility for his life is not.

The only edited out posts by mods that I have seen are guys that post in the Ladies Lounge.. ;)

I've had debates with people that all out disagreed with me, neither of us got edited out because we were respectful the entire time.

Well, if you really want to know what goes on around TFP, first thing you have to understand is comment edited by the TFP Board of Inquiry.
