a strange fear
I dont know how many other people think about this, but why is it that not many people are freaked out about the fact that there are people with the technology to silently destroy a city with the accuracy of a pinpoint from the other side of the world, the technology to see anyone from a thing floating around in space, or the technology to just about ruin someones life with the use of a computer?
am i overreacting? because at this rate, who knows what may come next. |
Found a home here, haven't you? I understand that this forum is monitored closely by .....:hmm:

i like this kinda stuff, what can i say?
|
people dont really fear it because they assume it isn't going to affect them and people dont fear the ability to destroy a city so far away be causes theres nothing you can do about it
|
I'd fear it, but it would merely be a waste of my time. I KNOW that I do not have the power to stop them, thus to worry about it would only make me horribly horribly depressed and paranoid. Tis not good for my health.
|
The Cold War got us plenty used to that kind of worry. Nothing is able to ease the nerves like a couple decades.

Well even though it would be difficult for those other countries to get the technology that we are using, they still may get it eventually.
|
It hasn't happened yet, and when it does, there isn't much that can be done to stop it.
I suggest that you focus your wories worry on something that you can change, like corrupt politicians, they're everywehre these days. Without them, the world-destroying is less likelly. |
I could also worry about the world being hit by a huge asteroid ala Armageddon or West Nile virus or SARS or... but it wouldn't do any good. I just worry about the things that affect me directly and that I have some minor degreee of conrol over. Like teaching my daughter her ABCs. :)
