Sitting here, in full daylight, surrounded by friends and co-workers (i.e. safe) - No, I don't believe in the supernatural.

Ask me again late at night when I'm alone and I just heard a strange sound from behind my closet door and you'll get a different answer.

The word supernatural implies something above and beyond the natural. If you're talking of angels and demons and spirits then I would consider them part of natural. Just not usual. Vampires and aliens and government conspiracies? Supernatural in the sense that no, I don't think they exist. Just an opinion.

Hey, WhoaitsZ, you finally got your board. Umm, I don't know if I believe in the supernatural or not. There's definitely some freaky shit out there, but I just haven't seen anything overly convincing for me yet.

I don't believe in the supernatural, but I do believe there are beings, planes, occurences, that are beyond the explanatory capacities of our current state of science. I think some day we'll understand them, the way we now understand what seemed like "magic" to our ancestors of thousands of years ago.

Anybody care to share experiences of the supernatural?

I believe that there are things we cannot see. Perhaps that can be called supernatural and perhaps we are not supposed to see them.

Supernatural... it is more of what is beyond the NORM of the natural... I see many of you see past this NORM, and thus to you it is not SUPERnatural... Awesome!

for a defination, I went to www.dictionary.com....

su·per·nat·u·ral ( P ) Pronunciation Key (spr-nchr-l)
adj.
1. Of or relating to existence outside the natural world.
Attributed to a power that seems to violate or go beyond natural forces.
2. Of or relating to a deity.
3. Of or relating to the immediate exercise of divine power; miraculous.
4. Of or relating to the miraculous.

see? outside of the NORM.... As we all have our own thoughts about what is normal to us. As you have all seen, me seeing spirits, and feeling their presence certainly is not unnatural to ME, but to the people at large, thats gotta be pretty freaky.

(Yes, Z got his board... As did I!!!! )

I believe in the supernatural ( the concept under a different word). There are things in this world that are difficult to explain... strange noises, visual tricks, mysterious winds and such.... there is no way to conventionally explain these things except that they are caused by something unseen and likely "unnatural."

GakFace, when you see spirits what do you see? I have a friend, and my mother has several friends, all of whom see/feel spirits. I'm interested to hear what manifestation they take for you.

--edit--

Just did a search for previous posts of yours and saw your explanation of what it feels like. I know from my friend's experience that it's a lot to live with - but what an interesting life you must lead, being open to these other mysteries.

I've only experienced things second-hand, through what my friend Michael has told me. A few snippets:

I had a recurring dream for most of my adult life that I was in the house I grew up in, trying desperately to lock all the doors and protect my family before something evil got in. I'd always try to scream for help but could only manage a weak little whisper. Michael told me that the next time I have the dream, I should remember that there are three very powerful protective spirits with me always, and they will protect me. I had the dream a few weeks later, and when the time came to scream I woke up full-on SCREAMING and haven't had that dream since.

Michael sees angels as "dancing lights," and apparently we are surrounded by many of them that are "attached" to us and they can travel back and forth between us and those around us. So, for example, sometimes I carry some of my mother's angels around with me. He can also see/feel them at great distances just by "listening" for them (sorry to mix metaphors, but how do you speak about a sixth sense?). They communicate things to him. He knew things about me, after just sitting with me in a room for 1/2 hour without me saying anything, having just met me, that he just couldn't have known. Shouldn't have known.

My mother's friend Pat was at my brother's memorial service, which we held in his favorite skate park. She said she could see a shadow that didn't belong to anybody physically present, and she saw my brother's name "Josh" written in "ghostly invisible letters" on the wall. She said she felt such relief from him when his friend Andy took his skateboard (the one he was riding when he was hit) for a skate at the end of the service. She also said that he, at that point, was still feeling stupid about the accident, and was worried about us.

I do believe that the spirits/angels that are around us both serve and protect us. I think they can protect us from death or guide us over, whatever we wish. I wish I could see them, talk to them, ask them things.

Yeah I'll slowly rip apart the Freaked out thread and get all that I said into their own threads where they fit and can expand upon.

As for communicating? Thats the weird part. It is different, there is no ONE way to communicate. Some people Speak to them... aloud, some speak mentally.. I speak thru emotions. It sounds more vague, and in a sense it is. I can't get specifics that words can convey, but when you think about it. delve into your emotions, past the simple happy, sad, and angry and into how and why... now think of how many that adds up to.. It can get pretty specific.

You said you wish you could ask them things, thats something even I have trouble with. Since I don't use words, I can only ask so much. Athough there are times when I'll "feel" them and I reply to them aloud and get a response back.. yes as a feeling, but its much like a foreign language. You hear the foreign word, and then translate it in your mind and then it makes sense.. all in a moments notice (if you're fluent) and thats how it works for me. I had some demons pull a prank on me, they thought it was hilarious even tho it scared me pretty well. I told 'em it wasn't funny, and all I felt was a group of them just laughing their asses off. To the point where I couldn't help but to laugh myself.

Your friend has a nice gift. To able to talk to them, and learn from them directly, about them and us... simply amazing.

K, I reazlize i'm going backwords.... but at the top.. You said you had the dream with the demonic presence, and that there are three powerful spirits, I took this in as the Trinity. I had my own dreams, and every time It got through my mind to look to God, the dream finally stopped occuring and never came back.

This is a forum I've been wanting for a long time, Z as well. We'll be more than happy to help you guys out with anything you need. Gimmie time and I will (as i said earlier) tear apart the freaked out thread, now that all those thoughts can belong freely in this nice new forum

i don't believe in ghosts, angels, devils, vampires, zombies, demons, etc. It's perfectly possible that aliens exist, but I've seen no evidence to suggest so.

I notice someone mentioned government conspiracies, though. Now that...I do believe in (come on, you can call the war in Iraq a conspiracy, does Bush really want to fight terrorism or just cheap oil?) There are also radically different reports in independent and mainstream news sources too (and by "independent", I don't mean the national inquirer). There could be government-corporate conspiracies to keep the masses ignorant of certain information (I'm still referring to things like the on-goings in Iraq, and so-on).

forgive me, guys. i didn't think i'd have to explain; i am used to talkimg to fellow weirdos.

i am way too tired to post much right now, but to me, supernatural is just that. above scientific fact. its not 'normal', ESP, appiritions, so on.

i think a lot of thimgs are simply not possibl t be seen by us, similiar to what nikki said.

also, say that not, people do NOT have any supernatural abilities at all: but do you believe there are aliens or spirits that do and maybe visit us?

no, not in the sense that most people think of.

I do believe there is a lot of unexplained stuff out there, but I think there is an explanation for all of it that doesn't involve ghosts or demons.

No, but I do not think we've reached the end of Science. There are still alot of things we will eventually figure out that we haven't yet.
I bet the fleas on a dogs back have a different view of the world than we do, and have no way of knowing what's going on outside their world. Similarly, we have no idea about some things, somewhere, that might explain the "supernatural"
