The Pyramid at the back of the dollar bill.

i think it has to do with the Illuminaty Society. Also the stars are in the shape of a star of david, mayeb because a rich jewish guy gave like a milliion dollars to the government in the begining.

stands for a "deity." The 13 stars overhead, 13 vertical stripes in the
shield, 13 olive leaves, and 13 arrows all represent the original 13
colonies.

The various little numbers and letters on the front and back are
check letters, face plate letters, quadrant numbers, and back plate
numbers. They are used to identify the printing plates and the position
of the note on the plate. These items vary--see section 2.7.

The date on the base of the pyramid is 1776 in Roman numerals.
The right-hand side roundel shows the coat of arms of the US:
the 13 stars above the Eagle's head represent "a new constellation
in the firmament of nations" according to the 1782 text.

Here is the text (the language is supposed to be heraldic language,
though it is in fact poor quality):

The device for an armorial achievement, and reverse, of the great seal
of the Unites States in congress assembled, is as follows:

ARMS: Paleways of 13 pieces, argent and gules; a chief, azure; the
"escutcheon on the breast of the American eagle displayed proper, holding
in its dexter talon an olive branch, and in his sinister a bundle of
13 arrows, all proper, in his beak a scroll, inscribed with this
motto: E pluribus unum.

For the CREST: over the head of the eagle, which
appears above the escutcheon, a glory, or, breaking through a cloud,
proper, and surrounding 13 stars, forming a constellation argent
on an azure field.

REVERSE: A pyramid unfinished. In the senith an eye in a triangle,
surrounded by a glory, proper. Over the eye theses words: Annuit
coeptis. On the base of the pyramid the numerical letters,
MDCCLXXVI. And underneath, the following motto: Novus ordo seclorum."

It is a toss up between the Illuminati and the Free Masons...I think there are 13 levels on the pyramid, which coincides with the tennants of Free Masonry. As memory serves there are also many other uses of the number thirteen in US's monetary system. FYI Free Masons laid the first stone in the Washington Monument and are also thought to have stolen a block given to the project by a Pope...

all i can say is i suggest the book "The Big Book of Big Secerets" by William Poundstone... lots of other secrets besides the $1 bill being Masonic (many many many of the presidents were actually masons...) and other random facts about the bills that people might not know... its good stuff... talks about other topics too, $10 on sale (atleast when i got it)

AS a Mason, I can say that yes a good number of presidents were Masons from George Washington on up. There were only a small few that weren't. That doesn't mean conspiracy though. =)

I'd like to ask though, that if you guys go out looking for stuff on Masonry, take it with a grain of salt. You can find all the "Secret" stuff published in many places, on the Internet, in books, pamphlets, whatever. Some by "ex-Masons" and some by "researchers" but a lot of it is also peppered with blatant lies.

Trust me, if it seems truly horrific, it's not true.

Unless your idea of horrific is hanging out with a bunch of elderly men. Then yeah, it's freakin' terrifying. =)

Interesting posts. Money itself is such a symbol, it it interesting to "deconstruct" the symbols on our currency.

In original Fremasonry there are only 3 degrees but today they have 33 degrees. The triangle and eye can be seen in every masonic lodge in the East above the WM chair :D

By the way did you know the Knights Templars also have links to the Free Masons because one of the 33 degrees is the Knights Templar degree. The knights Templar developed the Tarot cards but not for the pupose as we know of today.

The Knights Templars were the first to start a "Banking" system back in the 1200's. Ok I'm outa here for awhile folks.
