Conangate a fake?!
I'm watching the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brian, enjoying him ripping on NBC and Jay Leno, and a thought occurred to me: what if this is all fake? What if NBC moving Conan is intentional, a move to boost Conan's ratings and secure a larger and even more adoring audience for Conan? It seems likely that NBC will ultimately go with Conan (unless they're nuts), which after this drama will be even more popular than he was before.
Could it be that Conangate is a clever ruse to make the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brian even more popular? |

I trust that this is a speculative joke and that you don't honestly think it's a reasonable possibility. NBC is a network of idiots, doing the things idiots do. This is not even close to the first idiotic thing Jeff Zucker or NBC has done, and it won't be the last.

Word is that they've giving The Tonight Show back to Leno. Which is just the type of idiocy I expect from NBC.

If I were Conan, I'd leave. I wouldn't put up with that shit if I were as successful as he is. The man needs to keep his integrity if he wants to maintain the respect people have for him.
He relocated his family to Los Angeles less than a year ago for this gig....you know, the one he was told he was going to have one day? I'd walk away. The world of entertainment is too big to put up with that from a shitty network. I bet he could have a new job tonight if he wanted it.

I am hearing that Leno is getting the 11:35 to 12:35 slot and The Tonight Show back and that Conan will be done before the end of January...

Wasn't Letterman's departure from NBC somewhat acrimonious too? I was a bit young at the time, but what I'd heard about it was that Letterman and Carson both expected Letterman to get The Tonight Show, but NBC did whatever the television equivalent of cock blocking is and put Leno in instead.
Relevant question: whose dick is Leno sucking?

I'm still baffled after all these years as to why NBC has such a love affair with Jay Leno...I honestly just don't get it. They passed over Lettermen 20 some odd years ago who is know considered much more of a late night staple then Leno will ever be. Now they have a chance to bring in fresh blood, a young host who attracts young viewers and their going to lose him to another network as well?
Seriously NBC WTF?

Martian: yes, Carson wanted Letterman to take over, and NBC screwed him over and signed Jay Leno instead.
Jay Leno was a douche before NBC though: What's crazy is that Leno's ratings aren't going to be nearly as good as they used to be because of this fiasco, and he's not gonna be on there forever. What does NBC expect to do in 10 years (if it takes that long) when Leno leaves The Tonight Show again? Letterman will be gone, Conan and Craig will have no interest in NBC, and Jimmy Fallon sure as hell won't be the next host if they have any sense (not that there's any evidence they do). This whole thing represents a complete lack of foresight on their part.

First, I don't really care. I don't watch them vary often.
I like Leno's personality better. Conan has had funnier bits (Star Wars Line w/ Triumph, Trip to Finland, 1900's Baseball), but fails quite a bit too. I would rather watch Leno 8/10 times, but only when he has someone good on his show. It looks like Fox, ABC, or the CW might be getting a new late night show. Actually, they just need to put the local news at 10pm, and have Jay from 10:30 - 11:30. |

I could never warm up to Conan O'Brian...
I think it's his hair. I just want to mess it all up and get rid of that pointy thing at the top. Maybe get some hanging down on that forehead. I like him better with facial hair too.

you know, i dont think Leno has ever made me laugh. He makes me groan a lot though.
When it comes to Conan i can at least count on some chuckles.
