My dad told me something that ... well, it was a bit creepy. For the last week, my mom has been sleeping alone in a different room because she was feeling ill and didn't want to spread any of her sickness to my dad. Late in the night, she would wake up coughing and each time this would happen, she would see black smoke rising up from her body. My dad is not a leg puller and neither am I.

Does anyone know if this has any spiritual, or ... mystical meaning ... or ... any information at all?

ps. I'm hardly a believer in stuff like this, but ... well, it happened pretty close to me soo....

many normal people have hallucinations in that semi conscious period before being fully asleep. some people hear voices, some feel something on their body and some see things like your mother did. Any of the senses can be effected.

Its the closest to psychosis your mother will ever get, But you really don't have to worry about anything. probably the combination of the sickness, some stress and lack of sleep just got to her. It happens.

doubt it'll happen again once the sickness or stress is over with, but if she's awake and getting this all the time, its time for a psychiatrist.

What kind of medication is she taking for this cold of hers?? Cold meds can cause interactions if they are taken with psychiatric daily medications this could POSSIBLY cause visual anomalies when combined. There's a lot of possibilities really. Not that I'd rule out something spiritual but I would examine all other physical possibilities first.

Yea I think she may have taken too much Robitussin. Have her cut the dose. That stuff is seriously good at messing with your head. "Visions" are common on that very powerful dissociative.
