The music in your country
I've had an idea for this thread for a while. I'm sure there's a number of songs that were big in your country, but were never heard on the international market. I'd like to hear these - the saddest or most popular songs, songs that give a general feel and idea abuot your country's musical culture.
To start off, here's a number of interesting songs from Poland. You'll be able to find them in most p2p programs. I've supplied you with both the simplified and correct spellings, so you can copy and paste the title into your preffered program. Title/artist W zyciu piekne sa tylko chwile / Dzem (W życiu piękne są tylko chwile / Dżem) This is a song by a very popular blues band. The title and text are rather simple - that only certain moments in your life are truly wonderful. The singer has died 10 years ago (overdosed?). Jolka Jolka / Budka Suflera Although Budka Suflera has produced some deplorable music in the past, this is one of the saddest and most beautiful love songs of the eighties. The guy is reminiscent of his wife, even though their life in the eighties was very tough. Almost makes my cry. Autobiografia / Perfekt This songs tells a story of a man's life from his childhood up until he became a rock star and uinderstood that he really doesn't know nothing. It contains lots of reference to events in communist Poland, romance, death, and so on. ^^^ These are sad songs. In fact, I'm sure that if you had someone from Poland around, and you played one of these songs, you'd make that person very sad, homesick, depressed, and you could do all kinds of nasty stuff to him/her. Here are some novelty songs. I think that music lovers will find these interesting: Piejo Kury Piejo / Grzegorz z Ciechowa This is what you get if yoiu cross rock and funk musicians with a folk choir (and a chicken). There's even rap and disco in there. Siebie dam po slubie / Brathanki (Siebie dam po ślubie / Brathanki) "You'll get my body after we get married" - that's the title. It's a humoristic song, created by a band that has succesfully mixed rock and polish and hungarian folk music. The band is polish and the singer is Czech. Right. You're all settled. I wonder what your opinions are. I'd love to see some examples from your country! |
