New Coheed and Cambria album coming soon
Is anyone else excited that 'Dear Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV' is coming out September 20th? I haven't been excited about a major label release in a long time, but for some reason these guys albums got to me. The combination of trying to figure out the story from the lyrics mixed with some pretty kick ass rock has me hooked.
Also, has anyone picked up the comic books that they're putting out? They supposedly tell the entire story, so I'm waiting for the trade paperbacks to come out, or I might explode waiting for the next issue. I'm just really really hoping they don't suck.

Yes, the rest of their songs are very much like those. Kind of an updated Rush with pop flavorings and their own spices added into the mix.
The neatest thing about their albums overall, though, is that the 4 of them (their will be a fourth!) tell a sci-fi story about these kids whose parents apparently saved the world at one point in time. The story is hard to figure out, having only song lyrics to go on, but it's fun to try and piece it together. Their current albums are The Second Stage Turbine Blade and In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3. The last album they put out will actually be the first in the series. I would defiitely give them a shot. In Keeping Secrets... would probably be the better of the 2 currently available to pick up, but Second Stage... pretty damn good as well.

Extremely excited. Guitar riffs should be more "metal-ish." Anyways, if you dont like his voice your not gonna like the band and thats cool. Not only do I think his voice is pretty cool but that the music is pretty tight. I dont follow the story, but I dig the music.

Yes, I know a lot of people don't like his voice. I always thought it was a good sound for him, and fit the style of what they were doing well.
But then, I always liked Geddy Lee's singing too.

Coheed and Cambria is my favorite band.
I am extremely excited about their new album....if you guys haven't heard the first single from the album, you should check it out - "welcome home" - it's on the main page of their site. As for the comic books, I picked them up when I went to go watch them in San Diego a couple of months ago. If you think they are an awesome band now, wait 'till you read the comics - combined with the music, you'll understand the entire story and it will blow you away... They are playing again in San Diego and in L.A. next month...can't wait to go watch them again. They are an incredible live band..."A religious experience" as my buddy described them.
