I'm 40, British, cut my teeth on punk and new wave music but until this weekend had never sat down and listened to the first PIL album, although I remember hearing bits and pieces of it at the time of course. It was phenomenal. Why weren't they my number one fave band a the time? Why is this not recognised as one of THE great albums? Annalisa especially is just awesome.

too many snobs i suppose, i'm sure a lot of punks snubbed it, seeing it is a bit of departure for john!
i really enjoy most of the stuff that i have hear mister lydon involved in, so .... yea i have no idea why it wasn't bigger than it was! |
This is not a love song!
I too loved PIL... awesome band that was too late for most punks and a bit ahead of its time for the true post-punk crowd... |
flowers of romance! PIL were very good. Is a shame i werent sentient enough to enjoy it at the time.

This just reminded me to search for my copy World Destruction by Time Zone (Afrika Bambaataa and Johnny Lydon). I love this song...

May the road rise with you.

I remember thinking (when I heard it back in 80-whatever) that it was a monotone ripoff of Captain Sensibles work. I revisited it like two years ago and I like it better now. Some things need context before they are enjoyable.

pretty cool still hard for me to believe john lydon/johnny rotten was their vocalist howerver
