Dub style reggae.
I must say, I am addicted, just from what little dub feeling that Damon Albarn puts into Gorillaz's music.
I've already checked out a few samples, but does anyone have any reccomendations? Much appreciated.

See if you can find some 12" versions of The Specials songs. Some of them have a very similar sound to The Gorillaz type dub.

i forgot to say--dub is a producers form--it comes out of the practice of recording instrumental and vocal tracks seperately at studio one and other big reggae studios. b-sides and later seperate plates would be issued of the instrumental tracks reprocessed by various producers--so all the name i posted above are producers.
another very cool offshoot of dubculture is the sound system clash---to get an idea, you should check out rodigan's webpage http://www.rodigan.com/intro/intro.html flip the power switch on the mixer that turns up when you enter and all will become clear. i think there are soundclash recordings (of the battles between soundsystems) on his site--if not, do an audio search of rodigan and you'll find some--most are very cool, though it is a little difficult to play them as loud as they should be played on a home system. http://www.jamworldreggae.com/sounds/sounds.htm my friend, the good dr bindujeet--who told me about rodiugan--also claims that the world sound system clash happens in brooklyn every november.
