Sir Paul is back on the road
McCartney will be touring the U.S. again this year. My wife and I saw him in Atlanta in 2002 during the Driving Rain tour (it was immeasurably cool to see him perform "Getting Better" INSIDE the Phillips Arena), and we'll be catching him again this September (Phillips Arena in Atlanta again).
First of all, he's a BEATLE, so there's no explanation needed. Secondly, his concert three years ago was the single best concert experience I've ever had in my life. Since I've played an awful lot of live music, I feel like I'm jaded a little bit to the "concert experience." However, McCartney had us leaping, dancing, and singing away like a couple of teenage fools. It was an incredible and indescribable concert. After the sale was announced last month, my wife made sure she was at the computer on the correct day and time. She expertly navigated Ticketmaster Online and snagged our two tickets as soon as they opened. Within 15 minutes they were sold out. So, is anyone else planning on seeing McCartney this year (I hope you already have your tickets)? |
I tried to get tickets, but they were WAY too expensive. I just ran into the same problems with Stones tickets. I was so excited about getting to see these two again, but now I'm just depressed.
|
Congrats on getting tickets! (Yes, the ticket biz is such these days that a congrats is warranted when one can actually get seats INSIDE the arena.) Where are you sitting?
I haven't seen Paul live, although you'd think I have, considering I have "Tripping The Live Fantastic," "Paul Is Live" and "Back in the U.S." That's what, five CDs? Unfortunately, with the current cost of the tickets to see Dinosaur Rock, I need to save up for when (what's left of) The Who come back to town. That means no Paul, no Stones, no Eagles, no James Taylor even. :( I'm very excited for you, though! |
I think we're in Section 204 (here's a map of Philips Arena http://www.philipsarena.com/st0300/s...ertChart.shtml).
Grancey would know for sure since she's the one who actually paid for the tickets and is holding them in her own possession. Essentially, they're almost the exact same seats we had three years ago, and they're perfect for us because we'll be facing the stage straight on. I've also got "Tripping the Live Fantastic" and I like "Wings Over America" a lot, too. Three years ago, I took a notepad and made a set list as he performed. Then, after we got back home, I burned a four-CD set that consisted of all the songs he performed (studio versions) in order. I'll likely be doing the same thing again if I can stand still long enough to write. Boy, I really love my wife! |
Correction: Grancey thinks we're in Section 203, Row U.
|
No, not 203. We are in section 107. Warbeatle was so excited he got his numbers all mixed up.....

And then I'm shoved in the ribs by some guy's fat kids who say, "Hey, 'WarBeatle,' this is section 203 and you're in my damn seat. Move, Gramps!" |
this may come late, but i actually worked the show last night in anaheim, ca as a spot operator. i have a working pass, one of those silk passes with mccartney on the front of it that i now have lying around. i will be gettin another tonight as i am there working the spot again. if any of you mccartney fans wants it, pm me. don't want to ebay it so i thought it'd be cool if a real mccartney fan had it.
oh yeah, and forgot. i forget who couldn't afford to see the eagles, but i should be working that show for the third time here in anaheim as well. i have 2 shirts, one my best friend took, another a close buddy of mine has dibs on, i should get a third one so if you want that, pm me as well. and disappointingly, i was supposed to go on tour with the stones running power for their stadium tour. some things fell through and here i am. but oh well, there is next time. |
