The Rolling Stones
Well... I am waiting here... since about 10 am waiting for the Stone tickets to go on sale online. I was wondering whether anyone else here on beloved TFP is going to snag some Stone tickets also?
I'm in Calgary so they're playing at the Saddledome on the 28th of Oct. |
I haven't seen ticket prices, yet. Last time they played Denver, they didn't sell out. I've seen them several times over the years and it's always a great show. Unfortunately, I'm not willing to pay $150x2 to see them.

I'm not sure if they sold out, but I managed to get 4 tickets for the 9/15 show at Giants Stadium in NJ - (This is where the old Amex Slogan, Membership has it's priveledges camein handy) Called the gold card number - waited 32 seconds, got my tickets, all together, decent seats as far as I can tell - (I think I paid 99 per ticket, but I guess I will know if it was the 160 variety when the bill comes in.)
I've been a Stones fan longer than I've been a Springsteen fan, I wouldn't miss this show, they've always put on a good one... ... and I'm still holding out for Bruce coming back to NJ at the end of the current tour so I can see him again, |
Wish I could see this. Gonna be good. Oh well.
Asta!! |
Sold out in SECONDS here in Calgary, from what I've heard something like 17 seconds. Over 80% of the tickets sold were from the presale given exclusively to promoters and people who are in the Fanclub. And there are only 14000 seats in the saddledome. It sucks, I got up early on a saturday to wait for something I had a slim to none chance of getting. I am now accepting donations for Stones tickets in Calgary.....
|
I hope to see them in Dallas, if it's not too expensive.
|
Apparantly it's like $200 for the cheap seats here in Pittsburgh.
Crazy shit. |
I've seen the previous two "Farewell" concerts by the Stones ('89 and '94), so I'll pass on this one. I've already said my goodbyes. Twice.
|
Kind of like The Who's Farewell tours. Or The Eagles. Rakes in the cash, I tells ya.

I really can't believe they can still fill stadiums at $150 a ticket. These guys should be playing state fairs for $15 like the rest of the bands their age.

Bands (like the Stones, Eagles, Who etc.) get paid the same at every show, the promoter and ticket agencies then determine how much each seat would have to be sold for to make a profit. In cases like the Stones, promoters know they can demand exorbitant prices. Say the Stones get paid $1 million/ show the venue holds 28,000, the average seat costs $35. Promoters look at that and sell tickets for 3-4 times that and make a huge ass profit. Personally, although I am sure they put on a great show, with Charlie Watts having been sick and at their age they just aren't worth it to me. The Stones to me haven't made any truly good music since Brian Jones was in the band. They are about as money grubbing as McCartney and I wouldn't give Jagger or Richards a cent of my money for what they did to Brian Jones. Now if the Stones can resurrect Brian, I'll go. |
