CREED SUX ASS
the fact that Creed even got a record contract is really puzzling to me!
tghese guys write shitty songs that are so redundant it makes me sick. on a related note i would like it if Scott Stapp choked on a bottle cap simply for ripping off Eddie Vedder.

I think the guys in the band are assholes, but I can't hold their success against them. i like a few of their songs when they first came out before you couldn't go 2 minutes w/o hearing them

F Creed. They are one of the truly painful sounds to me. There aren't many noises that can put me in a vomiting, ear-bleeding, chaotic frenzy, but that is one of them.

Hey. hey. hey. Their first CD "My Own Prison" was (and still is) an extremely awesome cd. It wasn't until they went MTV and TRL pop that they started sucking. Don't get me wrong, they suck now, but I've got to give them credit for their first album

I think he said that even Led Zeppelin didn't get good reviews in your time. That's true. He compared them to their critical hatred/huge fan base.
Did anyone catch the Daily Show piece where the guys were suing Creed for not living up to their expectations in concert? That was hilarious. I've learned that mainstream music just all around isn't good. I can't say that Creed is any worse than Nickelback, Likin Park, or whoever else. |

The first time I heard "My Own Prison" I thought it was a new Pearl Jam. On a side note, I think Pearl Jam stopped making good music after Ten and then just used they're tunes to make foundationless, hippie, pinko leftist bullshit political statements. But I'll save that for another rant. Back to Creed: Scott Stapp deserves to be boiled in the melted remnants of his shitty CDs.

Firstly I think there could be more mature and thoughtful ways of discussing this.
But yeah, they do blow. Hurray for generic radio rock!

i liked My Own Prison, their next two albums, however, have not really impressed me. it's like when they blew up they lost their edge *shrug* who knows the reason. it might be because before they hit it big Stapp had a lot of pent up anger and emotion and that can make for great music whereas now most all of his problems are solved (barring the new ones he creates for himself) i think that the guitarist still rocks, however i think Stapp's vocals need some work. i think his catchy stuff is cliche and his more original stuff isn't catchy.

Please allow me to beat this dead horse a little more.....
I realize as I grow older that hating music is pretty ridiculous.... I mean there are so many more worthwhile things to hate in this world. But still, I manage to get pissed off a little bit when I hear Creed. The thing is, though, I KNOW ALL THE DAMN WORDS, at least to the songs they play on the radio TWICE AN HOUR. I mean, I'm pretty sure that Linkin Park sucks, but I don't think I've listened to one of their songs up to the chorus, you know. "Just change the station, man, this is America, there's plenty of other stations...." I know, but the thing is, if I don't maintain constant vigilance, I inevitably find that I have listened to "Arms Wide Open" or "Six Feet From The Edge" nearly all the way through without realizing it. So I guess my point is, they're actually pretty good, in a way. I mean for music to stand out to the point where it actually gets on your nerves, it has to be catchy, tuneful and well-constructed.... It isn't necessarily easy to make catchy, tuneful, well-constructed music, especially not for several albums in a row like Creed has. In the end, the only thing to do I guess is give them credit and spend my money elsewhere, you know... Ignore them and maybe they'll go away like somebody else said... |

You have a right to your own opinion and so do I. I think Creed rocks. I have all their CD's. I was born in 1960 and feel that there is alot of good Rock and Roll influence in their music. To me they're much better than some of the other crap out there. Some of this white rap/rock shit that's out there is horrible, that's why I turn the station...... I suggest you do the same when Creed comes on.

They are awful. The songs are so structured and predictable. I wouldn't say they sound like Pearl Jam or Zep. They write (I'll give them credit for this) a good hook, then beat the heck out of it. And the corporate rock world loves them.
I do not begrudge anyone for liking them, to each their own. Lots of people like auto racing, I think it's asinine. It's an opinion, we all have one. And this Creed bashing is about eight months too late, although I just heard them today. Snarling "With arms wide O-Pen" |

Another vote for "Liked 1st CD, hated everything after that..." I also agree they lost any edge they may have had, now it's like bubblegum pop.
But to say they have no talent whatsoever...? I wonder if a person who says that has ever tried singing, playing an instrument or writing music. If they have and thought it was easy, my apologies...(but I doubt it) |
