Best closing tracks
I did a few searches and couldn't find any threads along the same lines as this.
So what are everyone's favourite album closers, the last track on a record? I feel a really good final track can raise a great album into brilliance, but I'm the type who sits and listens to a CD or record all the way through. Anyway, here's mine: Jungleland - Bruce Springsteen, Born to Run Desolation Row - Bob Dylan, Highway 61 Revisited Moonlight Mile - Rolling Stones, Sticky Fingers The Biggest Lie - Elliott Smith, Elliott Smith Drop - Red House Painters, Ocean Beach In Metal - Low, Things We Lost in the Fire CFGF - Tindersticks, Simple Pleasure Song to New York - Graham Lindsey, Famous Anonymous Wilderness Ft. Worth Blues - Steve Earle, El Corazon Donimo - Cocteau Twins, Treasure Anywhere I Lay My Head - Tom Waits, Rain Dogs |
My first choice is obvious:
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon - Eclipse |
I hate to ask this but, what about the "Hidden Tracks" that are sometimes 1-20minutes after the official last track?
for example on Greenday's "dookie" album there is the track All by myself at the very end and i feel that closes out the cd fairly well |
Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - The Crane Takes Flight (Hearts of Oak)
Stone Temple Pilots - Long Way Home (Shangri-La Dee Da) Wilco - Dreamer in My Dreams (Being There) Bob Dylan - It's All Over Now, Baby Blue (Bringing It All Back Home) Mason Jennings - Darkness Between the Fireflies (Mason Jennings) Moss Icon - Gravity (Lyburnum) Metallica - The Call of Ktulu (Ride the Lightning) Our Lady Peace - Stealing Babies (Happiness...) Radiohead - Life in a Glasshouse (Amnesiac) Slint - Good Morning Captain (Spiderland) |
I think that all of Common's Cd's are closed well but I think that "Resurection" and "One day it'll all make Sense" have teh best album closers (Pop's rap 1 & 2)
|
"How Many More Times" Led Zeppelin I
|
Dylan has a few excellent closing tracks
It's All Over Now Baby Blue Desolation Row Sarah Bucket's of Rain Peter Gabriel - Biko Prince - Purple Rain The Doors - The End Bowie - Rock and Roll Suicide |
How about Outside the Wall from Floyd's The Wall.... short sweet, to the point and most definitely a closing statement.
|
Beatles - A Day in the Life (from the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" CD)
|
On the Beatles Abbey Road album, Her Majesty. The story behind it is that Abbey Road was the last Beatles Album to be recorded, and the previous track was titled "The End." The group didn't want their last recorded song be titled this, so they threw in this little ditty.

I am a fan of the "song" Omega by Stone Sour.....it's a good way to end an album
|
Theme From a NOFX Album on NOFX - Pump Up The Valuum is a good one, i also like Close Yet Far from CKY - Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild, i brings a nice change of pace to the cd.
|
NOFX - I Heard They Suck Live!
Last song is called "buggly eyes" I think. I think it closes very well. |
"Third Eye" Tool - Aenima
Only song that comes to mind right now, one of their best songs imho. |
Wu-Tang Clan - It's Yourz!
Pink Floyd - Sorrow, Echoes, High Hopes, Two Suns In The Sunset, etc. etc. etc. etc. Keane - Bedshaped Los Lonely Boys - La Contestacion Meat Loaf - For Cryin Out Loud Supertramp - Don't Leave Me Now Silverchair - Steam Will Rise, After All These Years Finger Eleven - Stay And Drown Nas - It Ain't Hard To Tell Eh I'm stumped I might think of more though. Asta!! |
The Specials - You're Wondering Now
"You're wondering now, what to do. Now you know this is the end." :D |
Not good at choosing tracks for a specific thing, But thier is one track that sticks in my head that would make a good closing track.
Don't Believe The Hype - Public Enemy |
