A Place to Submit your Songs or CD's

Hey ya'll
Check out this website if you are an inspiring singer/songwriter. It's pretty straight forward, but seems to still be in the works of completion.

Before anyone signs anything with them you might want to take a look at their "legal" page. It looks like if you sign with them then they own EVERYTHING that you might produce and even things that you have already produced.

They go on to say that this is an "industry standard agreement." In my experience there is no such thing as an industry standard agreement. Most of the time you don't want to sign everything over to them. You'll want to retain the copyright on your material. Period.

Remember that YOU are in control in these situations. You have the power to walk away ... they just don't want you to know that.

Actually, I think it is fair that they post the legal page. Most Record Labels don't even bother until you are all excited about the whole idea.
Anyways, That is my two cents.
I do agree with you however. You should negotiate as much as you can. If a label comes to you, you have the ball in your court. You can negotiate a better deal for yourself.
