Queens of the Stone Age
Haven't seen anything here about qotsa's new disc coming out in March. Listen to some clips here: http://www.qotsa.com/flash.html
The clips sound pretty cool. They're going on tour again soon and just so happen to be coming through town. Eagles of Death Metal are opening for them too, so it should be a great show. Managed to get some tickets yesterday through the presale.

If you guys like QotSA, you should check out the upcoming album by Open:Hand. It sounds a lot like Queens. Open:Hand's old material sounded completely different (and personally I liked their old sound much more), but their new album sounds a lot like QotSA to me.

So the single "Little Sister" is out on the radio now. Sounds pretty cool. I've heard a few other tracks as well. It appears that the album leaked to the net. What I've heard sounds great. Can't wait to pick up the cd in a couple weeks. Then the show in a month!!
Gonna rock!! Anyone else hear any of the new tunes yet?

heard the whole album played on the radio station over here yesterday. sounds very interesting. i think its going to be one of those albums that each time you listen to it it will get better, but when you first listen to it it makes no sence... if that makes sence.
but on a whole i cant wait for the new album... going to be great to listen to again.

"i know the bassist left, right? seems weird to still call it the same band without him, he wrote a lot of the material i thought"
actually, thats one of the most interesting things about qotsa/kyuss/desert sessions is a constantly changing lineup. josh being the only constant pretty much (qotsa at least) |

^^^ they were both constants on the first 3 queens records. they had a rotating line up, even through each album. dessert sessions has nothing to do with nick what so ever, even though he may have play on it sometimes. that was just a josh thing.

Well the show was incredible last week. Really tight show with great sound.
I was super stoked to see a guy there with a mic stand recording it. He's posted the bit torrent over here http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=13426

I'm looking at the inner sleeve of my S/T cd, and although it's all in spanish and the names have been changed, Nick can be seen on the back wearing a Cocaine t-shirt.

incorrect. josh is credited as playing bass on the first Qotsa (as Rex Everything)
i believe nick was out with either the Dwarves or Mondo Generator. similarly, nick didn't play bass on every kyuss record. Barefoot monster Scott Reeder (played with the Obsessed) played on several of their best. granted, nick did play live early on with Josh, but josh (under the name rex) recorded it all on self-titled. I've got some sweet videos of early early qotsa, just as a three-piece. very very cool. |
