Post one song that you want us to hear.
One song only.
My suggestion would have to be sugar coated sour by the dillinger escape plan. |
There is an enormous number o songs that I could put here, but since many of you seem to dislike hip-hop (or what you've heard of it), I shall say "One Mic" by Nas. (other songs, including "Clocks" by Coldplay and "Burden In My Hand" by Soundgarden are also amazing, but chances are a lot of you have heard them already). And sadly, I don't like enough really underground stuff to put out some obscure artist or song that you've never heard of.
|
it doesnt have to be underground or anything, just dont recomment Enter Sandman or anything.
|
New Born by Muse is a song I just love. Muse in general. I think it's impossible to go wrong with Muse. Just don't listen to their song Sober after a night of heavy drinking. Bad idea. :)

The 4th movement of Mozart's 40th Symphony in G minor. Especially the beginning of the development section, where he moves backwards around the cycle of fourths using fully diminished seventh chords resolving functionally.

Opeth - The Leper Affinity

"The Heart Asks Pleasure First" by Michael Nyman. Beautiful piano/violin piece.
|
Lyrics Born's "Do That There"
|
Can everyone please provide links to at least samples of the songs that they are recommending?

Here's my pick of Muse's New Born: http://oregonstate.edu/~jansenli/musenewborn.mp3

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Where Have All the Rude Boys Gone?

The Chips - Rubber Biscuit

Pat Metheny Group - The First Circle

The jukebox at the bottom of the page is a little weird. Select by album, go down the list to "Later that Day" then to you right, you have a choice of three of the songs off of the album, "Do That There" is the 2nd, press play and if flash is working properly, you're gold. |
Nick Cave - O'Malley's Bar
|
The Real Thing - Faith No more
|
Donny Hathaway: What's going on (live)
Some old school 4 you |
You've Got So Far To Go - Alkaline Trio
Sorry, I am at work, so I can't take the time to find a link. If people are genuinely interested and cannot find one themselves, I can post one later. |
Mos Def - Modern Marvel

Anyways, any song off the newest At The Drive In album[Relationship of Command] however, my favourite has to be Invalid Litter Dept. Cassandra Gemini by The Mars Volta - on the pre-release journalistic version of their album available on torrent etc. I just got it off torrent because I love them - it is preordered also :D (all Mars Volta songs are genius, and their first album, Deloused in the comatorium, is one song split up by the record company. ok, ok I broke the one song rule a tiny bit, sorry. |
Above The Clouds - Gangstarr. Feat: Inspectah Deck

Failure - The Nurse Who Loved Me

Johnette Napolitano "Pain of Shattered Glass"
Kind of a mellow song. I like her voice. http://www.citysoundmusic.com/artist...sp?artist_id=9 click on "MP3: All - 2.5 MB." It seems to be the only one that works. |

Here's a thread I started a while back that nicely compliments this one  |
Bright Eyes - Take it Easy (Love Nothing)
some of his stuff is way too bitchy for me but that song hits home at the right time for me. |
Badly Drawn Boy - Silent Sigh
In my opinion, an amazingly crafted pop song. |
Can we list another song later as long as it's just one at a time?
Anyway Sub-Conscious - Irreconcialable Asta!! |
Rasputina - Rose Kennedy
Rasputina's a group that not many people have heard of, though I wouldn't be surprised if somebody here has. They're an all-female cello group from New York that does alt-goth songs, as well as songs that sound quite burlesque-ish. I'd recommend them to everyone. |

A less known song by Failure (the previous one was released by APC) is "Pitiful". I highly recommend. |
Glad to see so many Muse fans around here! :) And Badly Drawn Boy! Yes!
I agree with K-Wise...I've got lots of songs to recommend to others so more than once would be nice. |
A live band that plays Hip-Hop They are really good.

So, for my suggestion, go to the quannum site again, select the album "Spirit in Stone" (by Lifesavas), and listen to the song "Hellohihey" (it's even better if you get a better quality copy of it and have a good subwoofer :)) |
Front Line Assembly - Fragmented
Electronic musicians at the top of their game after 3 decades of asskicking. |
