coolest damn song you've ever heard?
What would be the one (or several) songs that just sound DAMN awesome? Something that makes you get up and move your ass off, or builds you up to go f*** the world?
I have some weird choices... but I have to say: Come with me - P. Diddy from Godzilla Trip Like I Do - Crystal Method (or anything from the Vegas album) Elba - E.S. Posthumus Ready Steady Go - Paul Oakenfold and I have more... but not that I can think of. |
If you like "Come with me" you should try "Kashmir" on its own.
Uh, I dunno, "Eye of the Tiger" is pretty much the way to go for me. Foo Fighter's "My Hero" works okay, as does Bush's "Machinehead." I shamefacedly admit to "Lose Yourself," but I guess the oddest one for me is AC/DC's "Thunderstruck." And I just noticed that two of mine are in "Varsity Blues," god. I am a member of the MTV generation. This was a really good question, actually. Went back over my music collection to think about it, and realized I hadn't listened to most of those songs in a while. Thanks! |

1. The Requiem Overture - (The Score from LOTR: The Two Towers, its fricking awesome.) 2. Hit the Floor- Linkin Park 3. Lose Yourself- Eminem 4. Til I Collapse- Eminem 5. The Red- Chevelle 6. Deny - Default 7. Ruff Ryders Anthem- DMX 8. Right Here, Right Now- Fatboy Sliim 9. Chop Suey- System of a Down 10. Track # 4 and on Sigur Ros's (_) album (Album doesn't have title or track titles). You know the one with the war drums, weird plucky guitar feedback, melotronic organ and the wordless vocals.
Track #1 on their blue album (one with angels) is really cool too because it's being played backwords. |
Tom Waits, "I don't wanna grow up".
The ramones version was amusing enough, i suppose. |
Deftones w/ Maynard James Keenan "Passenger"
|
Primal Scream - Loaded. I wrote a paper on that song in college. Peter Fonda soundbites.
"We wanna be free, to do what we wanna do! And we wanna get loaded, and we wanna have a good time! And that's what we're gonna do. We're gonna have a good time. We're gonna have a party!" -Mikey |
Best song EVAR = "Danger! High Voltage" By The Electric Six

Young MC's Knowhow is such fun!
Rage against the Machine's Know your Enemy always gets me worked up. A Tribe Called Quest's Can I Kick It? is fab, but only the version with the Russian march in the middle. Fishbone's Fight for the Nuttmeg is an absolute riot. Iggy Pop's Butttown makes me dream of windsurfing, while Seal's Crazy is the song to ski to. Impossible question, and I've utterly failed to answer it, sorry! |
Velvet Acid Christ - Caught
|
|
Marquee Moon - Television
Venus - Television Satisfaction - Television Hell, all of their songs are just, <3 |
Sky is Falling-Blackalicious
Cabfare-Souls fo Mischeif Saete-Miles Davis Atom Heart Mother:Father Shout/Breast-Pink Floyd Polaris-Megadeth some more that i cant think of at the moment... |
Joker's Wild - Man or Astroman! (surf)
Angel Eyes - Jim Brickman (I know, it doesn't really make me "Get up and move" but it's just so beautiful. It's only 4 bars or so repeated over and over but each time it sounds a little different, and not just tone wise. It's a very deep song for such a short, simple song. I always said once I met a woman that makes me feel like that song does I'd marry her, and I did) Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne. Randy Rhodes was a god among men when it came to compsing rock licks. Unchained - Van Halen. Just rocks, really really rocks. So What? - Miles Davis. Possibly one of the coolest Jazz riffs ever written. |
