Moody Music

I need some good moody type emotionally distraught music. My ex-girlfreind told me that she never ever wanted to talk to me ever again, and i kind of got sad, but i got more in the mood to write a song that kinda expressed what I was feeling. So for inspiration, I need some songs that sound:

dissapointed
sad
meloncholy
depressed
and all the moody type stuff, but what im trying to write is something just a bit less sad with more numbness and cold, and ................. not so much resentment, but more of the feeling of "at least she told me so I dont have to keep wondering" because I have been in love with this girl for 5 years or so, wether we were together or not, and she finally just told me she can't talk to me anymore after 5 years of her dealing me as many sad times as happy.

I realize that post didn't make much sense.... just bear with me here.

Get ahold of yourself, man! No one likes a sad emo-singer! Wait, Nevermind.

If you're looking for moody music, there's a lot of stuff you can choose from. I like Damien Rice, Ween (anything from White Pepper or The Mollusk), Oasis (Champaigne Supernova in particular), THE BEST song for sadness (for me at least) Is "After the Rain" by John Coltrane. BEST moody song ever. Period.

Hope that helps you a bit.

The Verve Pipe - Half A Mind
Finger Eleven - Broken Words, Stay And Drown, Awake And Dreaming
The Cranberries - When You're Gone
Counting Crows - Long December
Travis - Luv
Queen - Love Of My Life
Pearl Jam - Black

definatly not going emo over here. more of a mellowed out and remorseful sound. John Coltrane is good stuff though, but im looking for not so much jazz and more acoustic guitar ensemble. I will go check the other stuff out right now though.

Pretty much anything written by Leonard Cohen is going to be a numb and cold view on relationships.

You can't get much more obvious than Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd.

Listen to: Beck - Sea Change (particularly the song "Guess I'm Doing Fine")

I suggest Nick Drake.

and damn K-Wise, whenever someone requests a type of song you are never at a loss. I could ask for for "songs about checkers" and you'd give me a full page.

Absolutely..."Five Leaves Left" and "Pink Moon" are great, great albums.

I heard some time ago that a script was being worked on for a film about Nick Drake's life (and death). I would love to see that movie...

I was thinking the same thing. I'm afraid to listen to ALL of this. Hope I don't go into full fledged depression!

K-Wise 12-15-2004 04:47 PM

Well if it makes a difference I list a lot of the same songs from previous lists...I'm pretty sure I always do...I get more as my music collection grows. Hmm I guess I don't expect you to listen to ALL of it...but definitely hope for a select few. It'd be nice to think I know what I'm talking about as well...I'm not always sure about that haha.

Asta!!
