Goa, Goa, Gone
I am trying to find some more goa for my collection, I already have most of Infected Mushroom and Astral Projection. Any recomendations for some good goa?
|
I had absolutely no idea what Goa was. Here's what AllMusic had to say, for others like me:

I wouldnt call Oakie goa..
if I could stop being lazy I have some older goa demo CD's from when I was a promoter/booking agent for a club that I could upload. |
Frontline Assembly, especially Columbian Necktie (GOArge Remix).
And I second with Yellowchef...Oakenfold is not goa. Try some Front 242 or In Strict Confidence...not sure if it's what your'e looking for. |
I know that Paul Oakenfold was actually a goa guy, but that was yerars ago. he went all soft and fluffy. I was able to find a goa set from paul oakenfold. I am looking for other stuff that has been mentioned.

even then he wasnt really goa.. it was still soft then. It wasnt mainstream trance but it wasnt really goa either. I saw oakie 2 years ago down here in Miami at Ultra Music Festival.. *barf*

that article from allmusic is accurate until this statement "As a consequence, Goa had comparatively few DJs to recommend it worldwide..."
after that, it's all incorrect drivel. Goa/Psy STILL doesn't have any DJs respected outside the goa scene (which is pretty kick ass, if you ask me!) It is true, however, that Oakenfold once played goa... many many many years ago... you can still find one of his mixes on the Dragonfly web site (I think), from like '95. Anyway... I'm really into what's technically coined "psy trance" (though most everyone uses the terms interchangibly, myself included), which tends to be less eastern influenced. If Astral Projection is goa trance, then HuxFlux or (old/good) Infected Mushroom is psy trance... that list of artists on AllMusic is REALLY old. Thats some last century kind of stuff.. I tend to like it harder, faster, chunkier, and with good complexities.. here's some of my favorite artists: HuxFlux Digital Talk Grapes of Wrath Toxic Rinkadink Lemurians I'll end there... If you can find them (probably on SoulSeek), I'd suggest getting the Fear Psychosis compilation for the harder stuff, and the Fairy Tales comp for some of the lighter stuff. YUM. or, if you want I have about 40 gigs of psy.. feel free to msg me and maybe we can work something out =) |

Why the f--- is Paul Oakenfold on that list? I don't care if he spun a few goa tracks at one time in his life. I feel bad for anyone that saw his name and went to buy a goa CD of his cause most record stores only carry his trance stuff.
Ready, Steady, Go is about as far from Goa as you can get, lol |
