Ozzfest 2001. Manson, Slipknot, Papa Roach, Crazytown (wtf?), Linkin Park, Sabbath, amongst others blissfully forgotten. Only cared for the last two, and not really even all that much for Sabbath.

Runner-up: Finger Eleven this summer. Went by myself. The openers were horrible. F11's set was nothing new since the last time I saw them, except that newstuff/oldstuff ratio grew. And I'd begun to grow tired of the band. "1000 Mile Wish" was done well again, however. That and a few other songs saved the show somewhat.

worst show for me was a Dj Icey show. Usually it's a good show with good breakbeats and good breakdancin/people whatever. This show unfourtunately was over-run with goddamned candy kids. WTF!??!? GRR I wasn't pleased and you could tell Icey was a little disoriented as well. He put on a decent set but you could tell he wasn't into the crowd much.

I hate it most when I'm really into the band that's playing and the crowd just stands. I hate guys that try to start moshing when there's only 10 people in attendance- it's just not the same, man.

The Friday of halloween weekend this year was probably one of the worst crowds ever (for one of the best bands ever). Celldweller was playing at this local bar, and they had the place all decked out halloween-style. That was cool. About inbetween the second and last opening band, about 5-10 kids (we're talking elementary school) ran in and started moshing in the middle of the floor to this horrible opening band. Oh, forgot to mention, they all took their shirts off first. So all these fat and gothy little kids running around, and one of my favorite bands is gonna start in 30 mins or so.. Luckily, somehow the venue's manager got them kicked out before Celldweller started. Thank god for that, but the performance that ensued was a shorter playlist than usual, lukewarm at best, and the crowd could care less about the concert than the halloween party afterwards. oh well.

Worst concert I've been to was a Weezer concert in which they didn't come out until 11:30, and seeing as it was a school night, I had to be home by 12. They started playing, and then abruptly their sound equipment went off. I got to hear about 5 minutes of them, which sucked. Not that weezer is good or anything, and that I like them nowadays, but back in 8th grade, those guys were the shit!

Well, when ZZTop was on the Eliminator tour one would have expected them to play live instead of playing to the record. My sense of truly being ripped off though was when some guy came running from backstage, took a swing at Billy Gibbons before security destroyed him between the barrier. Better though was Gibbons guitar which, seemingly continue to play the solo even though his hands were flailing at the guy that just attacked him. Saturday Night LIVE FOR zzZtOP?

The Cars did a show that everyone missed. No shit. Not one of 10,000 thought the 20 minutes they gave was EVEN them. Thought it was the soundcheck with road techs. Everybody did. Go figure. Go to see a headliner and they're done before it gets dark.

Kenny Loggins. Was getting booed cause he's lame so he asks the audience for requests in a snotty way. Some guy up front yells Stairway To Heaven,..banter ensues, Loggins challenges them, next thing this guy and his buddy are doing Stairway to Heaven. And fucking ripped it apart they did. Standing O for the two dudes who just banged one off and bye bye Kenny Loggins,..show lasted about 45 minutes.

Worst Performer Ever Live....

Saw him at Jones Beach (in NY) a few years ago -- beautiful night for an outdoor concert. He didn't sing one song people knew of his (No Brown Eyed Girl, no Into the Mystic, none if his standards) it was all stuff from his album he was releasing.

Now I understand the point of concerts is to sell albums - but -- ya gotta give the people something - -we paid a decent amount of money for those tickets... And when people started chanting for some of the songs we wanted to hear -- he said he was gonna play what he wanted to play, and got up and walked off teh stage -- concert over.

worst show ive been to was bloodhound gang. i went to see goldfinger who was the opener, who kicked ass. Then these retards get on stage and sound terrible, the whole point is for them to be funny, with thier funny lyrics, but the sound was terrible and I could not understand anything they sang.

also i saw dmb thsi summer. i'm not really a fan, but i kept hearing that they put on one of the best shows. so not true... they were boring and it was like 2 hours of poo. even the "acclaimed" tim reynolds came out and played with them, but you could not even hear his guitar. he might as well stayed home. so dmb is the biggest dissapointment ive ever had

My worst concert experience was a concert I PLAYED in back in the late 80's.

Somehow, I found myself playing rhythm guitar in a country-western band that year. The band was called "Second Wind," but the bass player and I always called it "Suckin' Wind." The leaders of the band (the two folks who owned the sound equipment) were the lead guitar player and his girlfriend (the lead singer), and they were by far the weakest links. The bass player, the drummer, and I were pretty good, and we propped up those other two mightily.

We somehow won a Battle of the Bands in Columbus, Georgia, and the prize was that we got to be the opening act for Billy Joe Royal on his tour-stop in Columbus for Memorial Day. So there we were, 105 degress in Columbus, Georgia right as the sun was going down, opening for Billy Joe Royal at Columbus Astros baseball stadium.

One of our songs was "Harper Valley, PTA," and we performed it in B Major. In the history of country music, nobody EVER did a song in B Major, but we sure did. The reason was because we included a half-step key change to C Major in the last refrain, and the chick lead singer's highest notes were in that key. Therefore, it allowed her to really screech out those high notes right at the edge of her range. In retrospect, probably not a very good idea.

Also, her dumbass boyfriend couldn't play guitar in B Major, so I taught him how to play in A Major and use a capo on the second fret to take it up a whole step to B Major. Therefore, when the key change occurred, he would actually be fingering notes and chords in Bb Major and the capo would raise the notes up another whole step to C Major. Problem solved, right?

The stage was set up on the pitcher's mound and we were playing toward home plate, where the audience was sitting (THANKFULLY) behind the backstop. When we started "Harper Valley PTA," everything was perfect at first. But for some mysterious reason, the chick singer changed keys one refrain TOO SOON. She began singing in C Major while the rest of the band was still in B Major. At first, I thought she'd catch her mistake and scoot back down to B Major, but she doggedly hung on to C Major and kept singing one half-step higher than the rest of the band. So, the bass player and I nodded at each other and we changed up to C Major with the singer. Nifty idea, until we realized the dumbass boyfriend on lead guitar was too stupid to change keys somewhere other than the prescribed place, and he stayed in B Major all by himself. The first half of that misreable refrain was performed with one singer in C Major, and three other musicians in B Major. The second half of that same refrain was performed with one lead guitar player in B Major and everybody else in C Major. The only thing that could save us from such a horrible country-western train wreck would be the actual arrival of the correct key change, and dumb-bunny boyfriend would finally change up to C Major with the rest of us.

Which he did. Except....

At that same instant, bird-brained chick singer decided to change keys YET AGAIN, and she slid on up a little further to C# Major. So now the whole situation repeats itself; the first half of the last refrain had a chick in C# Major and everybody else in C Major, and the second half had a lead guitar player in C Major and everybody else in C# Major.

However, the whole thing was complicated by two additional problems; first, in order to play in C# Major, the lead guitar player would have to finger notes in B Major, and the 2nd-fret capo would transpose everything up a whole step, and we all KNOW he can't play in B Major. Second, the chick singer's high range ended at exactly C Major, therefore C# Major was exactly too high for her to sing in tune at all. So she screeched. And screeched. And screeched...

As to the unholy sounds that must have been coming through that sound system, all I can say is thank God for backstops at baseball stadiums. I'm also guessing Billy Joe Royal wasn't very impressed, either.

Warrreag,..That's funny. That brings back some memories. Albeit in different keys, at least you were all playing the same song. Ever play an entire song with half the band playing one song and the other half playing another? And finishing at the same time? That's a story for another day.

I've been there. It's funny because it happened years ago.

The year was 1993. I was living in Montgomery, Alabama. The band Alabama was scheduled to perform at Garrett Coliseum. I was excited about going. I had been listening to Alabama for years during my country music phase, but I had never had the chance to see them in person. So, we went. The opening acts were pretty lousy so we went outside to wait for the SHOW to start. Well, the SHOW was nothing more than a medley of their greatest hits. They played about 45 minutes consisting of the hooks from their best songs. Not one song was performed in its entirety. Disappointed? Extremely. Oh, and the opening acts we walked out on? Lorie Morgan and Clint Black. Who knew? At the time they were nobodies.........

That all came from my nose. A kid got pissed off because I bumped into him (just bumped, not hit or anything) in the pit. I can remember bits and pieces of the concert if you mention stuff to trigger my memory, but it's mostly lost to the impact my brain took when my head hit the ground.

about a year ago, I was going to see an Alexisonfire show at a bar. We ended up getting kicked out before they came on because my friend fell asleep on the couches during the opening band. I was not happy! :|

I've got two... In 96? we went to see STP, being opened by gosh, forgot now. They were so bad (the opening band) that we walked out and waited until they got done. They sucked!

Second, in 95, a local radio station was hosting an all day event, with like 15 bands, it was hotter than shit, out side on stone tiles so the heat was being reflected right back up. Well, we drank beer all day, didn't drink water.. When Type O Negative finally go to the stage at like 9, we were stupid drunk, and in the front row. Some guy was fighting to get between myself and my friend, and we wouldn't let him. He headbutted me, right above my left eye, then he ran for his life. I didn't notice all the blood for about 30 seconds, so he got a good head start. Then as I ran out, the paramedics stopped me because I was bleeding. Ended up with 7 stitches, and he got away.

Last night. Barenaked Ladies. Drunk crowd behind us. Spilled red wine on my wife's white scarf, a full cup of beer over my head.

Sounds fine to me, and triggers a memory as well.

Went to see Phish at an outdoor site, which is usually a ski slope or something. Got there an hour and a half early, waited in the willcall line to pick up the tickets, and the frickin' workers were so slow that we missed the entire first set. And no, I wasn't stoned.

The rest of the concert was fine, but the organizers sucked.

I had spent 120 bucks for four tickets and my ride said he was going to get out of work at around 3:30 so we could make pretty decent time. Well he apparently didnt get out until 7 even though he told me 3. So we leave.

One and a half hour drive there, concert starts at 8, I thought we would make it by the time the opener finished and SP came on.

Well...the main road there had been blocked off by officers.

I have u all beat, 6th grade I had front row seats to Bobby Brown's "humpin around" tour. I was a small frail little white kid surrounded by every sexually starved african american women in Portland. He handed his sweat towl to my little sister ( thanks??) and a large, large women took it aggresively from her. Then somehow a brawl between this women and like 17 others followed, and i think a fake nail flew into my eye. What did I learn from this, war is hell :)

Got to say though, if you say that happened the way I'm imagining it, then that's hilarious. If I had a million dollars,...bahhhh,...

A friend of mine's girlfriend wanted to see Sister Hazel at the 9:30 Club (for you DC-area people), but she couldn't make it for some reason so he said "Hey, I have a ticket, let's go." I didn't care who it was, I didn't have anything to do that night. So we went.
And it was terrible. The music was terrible, the downright hideous woman who stood in front of us with her boyfriend was terrible, it was all terrible.
We got a bunch of laughs out of it though so I guess it wasn't that bad.

I saw Bob Dylan a few years ago. I love the guy, but two hours of him standing still and mumbling completely incoherently just wasn't worth £30.

My worst by far was Marylin Manson at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, great place to see a show because it used to be some sort of Theater... anyways I got to go with my favorite little stripper girl for free cause her friend had an extra ticket. Now I thought I was gonna have a great time cause I liked Manson at the time, I was going with a smokin hottie and just knew I was gonna have the best sex of my life afterwards... We got there late to start with, the music was way too loud and distorted, we sat in the middle of a throng of 13 year old girls who had practically nothing on, and the girl I was with was consuming X like it was candy... well she passed out. Then Manson started talking about Fuck Jesus bullshit and seemed like he really meant what he was saying... I got creeped out and felt VERY uncomfortable... could have been my Pentecostal upbringing I dont know... well since my date was passed out I decided to get out of there while I still wasnt possessed by something out of the Nether Realm... Well I had to cary the girl... she was barely 100 lbs, but try carrying all that dead weight up and down flights of stairs... answering to security about what happened to her, getting stopped by the cops crossing the street with a "dead" looking girl over my shoulder, got to my car which had been broken into, no stero and no driverside window in the rain... on the way home she woke up long enough to puke profusely all inside my car and in my lap... Needless to say there was no sex.... ABSOLUTELY sucked major ass.... but I still listen to M.M. but will never ever in a million years attend another one of his shows....

I'm gonna give away my age here, but I saw Earth, Wind, & Fire back up Uriah Heep. Stoned white guys and really drunk black ones. The festivities started with a knife fight two rows behind me. After they stopped the show, carried two guys out, and arrested a mess more, the main act came out. One of the few shows that I ever saw where the band was more loaded than I was. I walked out after 3 songs, drunk guys at a Karaoke bar do better.

Why do I imagine this in my head as being the perfect MadTV skit? Couldn't you just picture it...

Most of my shitty concert experiences come from great bands who happen to have terrible sound that particular night, nothing too major.

It's between this one local concert where a heavy thrash metal band (like Gwar) played and to top it off had the infamous video of that guy that blows his head off.....disturbing still to this day...and when I went to a Weezer concert, I stepped down from the vip section to the main floor for the last few songs. Apparently, there was a community 'pipe' circling the line in which I was standing right in the middle of. Here comes the 'pipe', they offer it to me, I said No and passed it on. not 5 seconds later security comes up and boots us out. ME TOO! So I ended up missing my favourite song at the end for something I didn't do and was unaware of.

Do shows count? The Delaware local punk scene is just bad by definition...I have been to innumerable shows that, despite being in a 6x8 room, guys bring in a full stack marshall amp and blow the shit out of everyone's ear drums.

I haven't disliked any concerts I've been to, but I was at a Who show a couple years ago and first, John Entwistle fucking died the day before the tour started (!!!!) and I watched a guy thrusting his fist forward to the beat punch a girl in the face. Not my worst moment, but pretty shitty for her!

Absolute worst? Here's mine...A friend that worked for a radio station had free floor tickets to double bill: Starship (at the hight of "We Built This City") and Night Ranger (a few years AFTER they had declined from their lofty peaks of the late 1970s).

Jesus Christ it was bad. I still get shivers thinking about it. Needless to say, we didn't stay for the entire show.

of the three times ive seen him, BT ate it on stage twice. The first his keyboards died and he threw a temper tantrum and smashed one before storming off stage. The last time i saw him he laid down the base loop and it never changed in an hour if not longer. i almost hung myself

However, the one time between those two times, i saw him in a basement show where there was only 200 of us, and he played wonderfully. he needs to play what he does well at and not what everyone likes. whada concept...

Metallica/Guns N' Roses show at the Meadowlands. Faith No More opened and they were the best band that night, Metallica was up next and they were alright. Then there was a 2hour intermission while the crew readied the stage for GN'R. The only relief was 15 minutes of 'tittie cam' on the big screen. Cameras were going around the audience stopping on girls who flashed a bit'o'boob. So after the wait, GN'R finally starts to play, when half way into the set someone hit Axel with a bottle of water or somthing.... he walks off and the band finished the song sans vocals. Then Slash or Duff say Axel's not comming back out and it was the crowds fault, kinda like a lame second grade teacher cancelling recess cause of one anynomous spitball.

Second runner up would be Vilolent Femmes in Albany around '97. That has to be the most boring set I stayed for the duration of (from a national touring band with a solid rep(I've seen tons of sucky local/bushleague bands)). It felt like 30 years had passed by the time they left the stage.

Sounds completely justified to me. Granted, Axl is a dick, but it is completely unacceptable for performers to have to dodge thrown items in the middle of a show. I don't know if you have ever stood in a spotlight; I have, and you can't see anything if the light is in your eyes.
