Nope, there's a whole album coming out this month. LP did some stuff over Jay-Z beats as well.

I'm not much of a Linkin Park fan and the only Jay-Z albums that've held my attention are the earlier albums and his last album but I suppose I'll check this one out - it should be even more interesting to see how this recieved by their fans. Especially Jay-Z's fans.

The radio station in my town (99.1 HFS), has recently started doing this a lot. One of my favorites is 99 Problems and 99 Red balloons. They aren't as good as the Jay-z/Linkin Park mix because they aren't rerecorded in the studio.

Yea, i saw that a couple of days ago. It sounds pretty awesome. Its kinda wierd cuz JayZ's black album has been mixed with a lot of other artist, Linkn Park being the latest. DJ Danger mouse did the grey album, which was the beatles white album with the black album. DJ cheap colonge mixed Metallicas black album with Jay's to make the double black album. most of it sounds pretty cool. I think the show MTV mashed, with them colaberating is on later tonight.

If you guys are Jay-Z fans, and enjoy remixed songs, I highly recommend you all check out the Grey Album.

This DJ mixed the White Album (Beatles) together with the Black Album (Jay-Z) and it owns. I love it.

I loved linkin park, I remembered listening to Hybrid Theory first as the JJJ album of the week (anyone from Oz knows what i'm talkin bout). But then all the mainstream stations started playing linkin park and I heard them everywhere, i still like them but definately not as much as I used too, I did buy Meteora and i'll probably end up buying this new album too.

I dig Linkin Park. Call it the appeal to the universal themes in their music... I just plain love them. They put on one HELL of a live show, and if you listen to more than just what's on the radio, you'll find a lot of depth. I've always been a sucker for folks that have intelligent lyrics and put a lot into their music... and LP truly does that.

That being said - I never did like Jay-Z. Still don't really care for him. But the stuff I've heard off the remix album is fucking AMAZING. They did an excellent job incorporating the lyrics into the existing songs and smoothing them out... a few of them actually sound like they were made for each other. If you get a chance, check out 99 Problems / Points of Authority & One Step Closer... wow. Damn tight.

The album comes out Nov. 30.

For those of you just getting into mashups, check out the other thread Bastard Pop for links to many other similar works. I love this genre. It is even better when the 'vocal' half of the mashup is sung instead of rapped.

Sell out? Do you know a little bit about the history of the band man? Chester wasn't even an original member they added him in later and thats what gave them that sound. It was originally just Mike Shinoda, who's an emcee (and a good one). So how is this selling out when they were a very hip-hop oriented band to begin with? Did ya even check out Reanimation?

Jay-Z is not the first time they worked with a hip-hop artist. And just look at all the emcees on that list...not a one of them was popular at the time nor are they popular now. It's like they wanted to work with them they're entire career and finally got a chance to. They could have picked anyone...if they had picked all the popular rappers of the time it woulda prolly sold twice as many. They didn't care. Hell I'm sure a lot of people hated this album too. Jay-Z is practically a legend in hip-hop why wouldn't they want to work with him? Knaw man not sell out...when you see them recording with Lil John then you can start calling them a sell out.

Linkin Park hasnt sold out, theyve been mainstream from the start.

and what i dont get is that everybody always talks about how intelligent thier lyrics are when all they do is whine about people being mean to them and how thier life sucks. if you want bands with intelligent lyrics, listen to bands like Iron Maiden and Iced Earth, who actually sing about good subjects like history and classic literature. and another plus is that they actually have musical talent

Got an advanced copy of this album. It's real nice and something LP/Jay-Z fans should give a listen to. I love a good collaboration and you know these guys are doing it for the fans and not for the cash. The best track would have to be "99 Problems / Points of Authority & One Step Closer."

The fact that not one single band I can think of sounds anything quite like LP shows they have SOME form of this "musical talent" you speak of. People write about what they wanna write about it isn't the subjects they pick that makes the lyrics intelligent it's just the lyrics themselves

Quote:
Moving all around / screaming of the ups and downs
Pollution manifested in perpetual sound
The wheels go round and the sunset creeps behind
Street lamps, chain-link and concrete
A little piece of paper with a picture drawn floats
On down the street till the wind is gone
The memory now is like the picture was then
When the paper’s crumpled up it can’t be perfect again
Gee yer right man, not one shred of intelligence what so ever. I'm not even a huge fan of theirs..they aren't one of my favorite bands, I don't even own one of their CD's but I respect the hell out of them. Especially Mike Shinoda. He IS an intelligent lyricist I don't care what anyone says.

I don't mind the song, it goes down ok. Although I like both artists. Anyone heard of a Jay Z and Nirvana album? He has said he wants to do one, and I've heard from a friend that there IS one. I've checked on ebay and there supposedly is one. It's Black Album / Nirvana Unplugged.

Now that somehow sounds bad to me. It's one thing with Linkin Park who were primarily a hip-hop friendly band from pretty much the get go. Nirvana though? Definitely not the same thing. I'm not even sure if Nirvana even liked rap music to be honest.

Why not buy it directly from the source? DJ Noodles appears to be the source of this mashup. It appears that there is also a Purple Album (with Prince). OK, I think this is officially out of hand. I don't like any of them; I find rap mashups to be boring.

I'm going to add my opinion that Linkin Park doesn't really belong on the same stage as a true artist like Jay-Z. Those Linkin Park lyrics are okay, but I'm sorry they don't compare very favorably to Jay-Z's best work, I'm talking pre-hard knock life here. Linkin Park simply isn't on the level musically of lyrically.

Jay-Z seems to be selling himself as a kind of jack of all musics now that he's "retired." Whatever, his hits had a huge crossover appeal so it's not really surprising. I'm glad that he's open to people sampling him and some of the mash-ups have been exciting, but appearing on stage with Phish? come-on! and now Linkin Park? He's trying too hard.

first off, when i say musical talent, i mean actually being able to play thier instruments properly, linkin park doesnt use solos, and they try to make people think theyre doing it to be different than all the other bands out there, but its actually just cause they suck, if by talent you mean being able to make people believe terrible musicianship isnt terrible, then i guess they do have talent. the only member of linkin park i do respect for his talent is rob bourdon, thier drummer(yes, i actually know shit about them, dont act so supprised) and as for lyrics, anybody can use metaphors to sound smart, heres an example of some real comtemplative lyrics with an actual meaning to them
Quote:
Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming
It's not so easy to stop from screaming
But words escape me when I try to speak
Tears they flow but why am I crying
After all I am not afraid of dying
Don't believe that there is never an end

As the guards march me out to the courtyard
Someone calls from a cell "God be with you"
If there's a God then why has he let me die?
As I walk all my life drifts before me
And though the end is near I'm not sorry
Catch my soul cos it's willing to fly away

Mark my words please believe my soul lives on
Please don't worry now that I have gone
I've gone beyond to see the truth

When you know that your time is close at hand
maybe then you'll begin to understand
Life down there is just a strange illusion.
Hallowed be thy name
