Your album of the year, up to this point.

What is your album of the year up till now?
Make sure that the cd was actually released this year.

Mine is easily Iron and Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days.

Spartak 11-02-2004 12:44 AM

For me it's a tossup between Interpol's Antics, and Kasabian.

almostaugust 11-02-2004 12:49 AM

Beastie Boys- To the five Burroughs.

Jeff 11-02-2004 01:46 AM

The Drive-by Trucker's latest, The Dirty South.

andrewtayloruk 11-02-2004 02:06 AM

For me it's got to be Kanye West - College Dropout

Although I've just had delivered a new batch of CDs so perhaps there's something in this list that just tops kanye.

Green Day - American Idiot (Quite possible)
User - Confesssions (Certainly good, but just how good?)
Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane (This is a definite possibility)
Robbie Williams - Greatest Hits (Do g. hits compilations count?)

zenmaster10665 11-02-2004 02:12 AM

album of the year - of the day ;) = Kasabian - Kasabian

djflish 11-02-2004 02:37 AM

The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free

Not quite as good as his first, Original Pirate Material, but still genius.

blitz.fenix 11-02-2004 07:06 AM

Gwar - War Party. Hasn't been released yet but the 3 tracks they have released are superb. Gonna be a great album.

JosephSelf 11-02-2004 02:29 PM

Hmmm, nothing much is coming to mind; maybe Finn Brothers EVERYONE IS HERE. I also liked some of Nellie McKay's GET AWAY FROM ME. U2 has a chance to take it when they release their new one.

I'm with you.

I'd also list:

Reverend Horton Heat - "Revival"
Secret Machines - "Now Here is Nowhere"
Beastie Boys - "To the 5 Boroughs"

k1ng 11-02-2004 08:38 PM

Nothing really stands out as great, but Id have to vote for the new Rammstein album, 'Reise, Reise'.

Blasphemy. 11-02-2004 10:26 PM

Maybe even The Fiery Furnaces in my opinion.

tspikes51 11-03-2004 11:48 AM

Blindside - "About A Burning Fire"
Project 86 - "Songs To Burn Your Bridges By"
Hazen Street - "Hazen Street"

Gotta go with Greenday's "American Idiot".

scott_p_1 11-03-2004 04:27 PM

I had to put up with a couple of dissapointing albums this year, but for me, Alexisonfire - Watch Out!

mused76 11-03-2004 06:08 PM

Interpol - Antics

anti fishstick 11-03-2004 06:26 PM

emotive by a perfect circle. I just got it today and it was released yesterday. Dark, somewhat creepy. Has some pretty grim predictions for the future but this is what the next few years will look like....

Runners up to Sparta: porcelain

YaWhateva 11-03-2004 06:41 PM

Right now Emotive by A Perfect Circle.

In a month, The Nirvana Box Set.

Jadedfox 11-04-2004 03:30 AM

Impossible to pick one but

Orbital - Blue Album
Soulwax - Any minute now
The Haunted - rEVOLVEr

are all up there along with many others ;)

k-Os- The Joyful Rebellion
Jean Grae- This Week
Mos Def- The New Danger

Harry Cox 11-04-2004 06:25 PM

How did I forget Velvet Revolver? I'll have to add them to the Spree and call it a tie.

Architeuthis 11-04-2004 07:40 PM

Tom Waits - Real Gone

By far the best album this year imo

KWSN 11-04-2004 08:17 PM

Stompy 11-05-2004 07:44 AM

Nirvana box set.

The thing isn't even released yet and it's already the album of the year!

Nothing can remotely come close to that.

kutulu 11-05-2004 11:20 AM

This was a bad year for music for me. Nothing stands out as amazing. Some good thinks were the new Fear Factory, Clutch, and Tomahawk.

Wheat King 11-05-2004 12:10 PM

Ummm hello??? Bowling for Soup? Hoobastank? Ashley Simpson???

Because typeface doesn't show how sarcastic I am, I'll have to inform you I HATE all of these... anyone with me???

zhevek 11-06-2004 02:44 PM

Well, what DID you like? ;)

I myself enjoy Muse "Absolution" and Concrete Blonde "Mojave."

Ella 11-06-2004 03:39 PM

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - 'Abattoir Blues'

Double CD set with some truly awesome moments of greatness.

ToiletDuck 11-06-2004 04:41 PM

To me this album is a bit of a disappointment. "It Happens" and "Icarus" are good songs but the rest sounds like a bad Taking Back Sunday ripoff. They've definitely changed since they lost their old singer, and not in a good way.
