Incubus: Yea or Nay
I was wondering if anybody else thinks that Incubus has made good music through all of their experimental career. I think that their success in the wide variety of their music shows that they are true masters of their art.

i'm not a big fan of theirs. the song i like the most about them is "talk show on mute", i believe is the name. i like the techno sound in the beginning. i don't own any of their cds and couldn't name another song of theirs. sorry tspikes, they haven't done anything for me yet.

A moderate yea. SCIENCE was half great, half shit. Make Yourself was kinda okay. And Morning View was consistently pretty good. No idea about the rest of their music, but I'd give them the label of 'decent'.

Half of their songs, on every cd, are great. The other really suck. When they're good they are really good. I think they have untapped potential that they've yet to reach at this point - seriously. Brandon has a great voice and the band is good but they need to tap tap their potential.

Hell YEAH tspikes. I agree with exactly what you said, I think having achieved success with a variety of styles is quote a feat. Not to mention I just saw them in concert a couple weeks ago and they were awesome, again. I've seen them live 4 times now and they do not disappoint.

Science was good, Make Yourself was okay, but was also the beginning of the crappy phase - their slower songs were the most famous, and a result of that was Morning View, which really just shouldn't have been made.
Maybe I didn't listen to MV much, but it just appeared that they just ran w/ the success of the slower songs. Kinda like how Sugar Ray made "Fly" and suddenly went from punk to... love song whatever. I pretty much lose interest in a band when they do something like that, so I haven't heard the latest CD.

I love 'em. This thread inspired me to play Nebula.
"Wander off into your nebula your nectarine of multiplicity cum like orgasmatron on overdrive" No, I don't have a fucking clue what it's supposed to mean. I'm not a big fan of Morning View (especially Are You In) but the other CDs are great.

huge YEA. easily my favorite band. they change their sound in each album, and I just end up loving them more. and what's more, Brandon Boyd writes some of the best lyrics in all of music, in my opinion. and maybe it's just me, but really compelling lyrics always make a good song great and I love all of their stuff.

I agree that Incubus has made incredible music throughout. Listening to their music in order it's cool cause you can listen to the evolution of their ideas and how they are maturing as musicians. They're coming to my school (Northern Illinois) on November 12th...I can't wait!!!

They're nothing outstanding, their bad stuff is somewhat worse than most top-40 new rock music you hear on the radio, and their good stuff is somewhat better. Their lyrics are a bit on the pretentious side, but at least they're somewhat complex and intelligent which is a lot more than you can say for most similar bands.

Huge hella Yea. S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Make Yourself were by far my favorite. I liked Morning View all the way through, just not as much as the other two. Fungus Amongus was good to, especially Psychopsilocybin. My favorite all time Incubus song is Pardon Me, with the Warmth a close second. That being said, I just couldn't get into A Crow Left of the Murder. I can't explain why, it just didn't hit me. Incubus is the last must see band on my list that i haven't seen yet, but I son't see them coming to Calgary anytime soon....

I think people tend to overrate their music. I don't mind it, I like some of it, but some people (a lot of people) act like they are God's gift to music. They are ok.
