Quick analysis of the first round: For the first time in five opening rounds, one of the top seven seeds lost. The win for HELP! pits the duo from 1965.

In times past, the action has been between the 4 and 5 seeds in this round, but since this is a new crowd that has already surprised me :) , I'm looking forward to seeing how this unfolds.

Your seeding is a travesty, as I believe White Album and Abbey Road should be in the finals, not the quarter finals (sigh).

So you would have put one of them number 1 and the other at number 2? That's fine, seeding here is subjective, but let's not forget that if you did that, you'd have ONE of them facing facing REVOLVER, RUBBER SOUL or SGT. PEPPER either this round or next, and if next, two of those three facing off this time. Folks would complain about that, too.

Let's keep in mind that the object here is to determine the winner; just like the NCAA basketball tournament in the US or virtually any other sports event, the two best teams could meet in the semis or quarterfinals. The desired result is to have the two best square off in the finals, but that's not always the way it works.

Despite the "travesty" I made of this, I hope you're enjoying it! :thumbsup:

Yes, it's all subjective. I would've ranked them much differently, but then again, I'm not in the "Sgt. Pepper is the best album ever" camp. I don't even think it's the best Beatles' album. Then again, I don't think Revolver is either, as you clearly do. It's all for fun, so no harm, no foul

The first time I did this, I had just seen one of the all-too-common lists of "Best albums ever", and my recollection now is that the ones I put in the top four slots were rated that way on the list. I don't remember the source of the list-- it could have been Q or Mojo or Rolling Stone or Uncut, if not something else altogether.

And I personally would have rated them differently. My top four in this order would be MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR, PAST MASTERS 2, REVOLVER and PEPPER. I say that only to point out that the seeding wasn't totally subjective, or else it would have been different.
