Brit Rock vs American Rock: Which is better?
Brit Rock vs. American Rock: Today's music scene - which is better?
I opt for Brit rock because it's more experimental - I'm probably putting myself out on the line for saying that - but that's okay. American rock isn't doing it for me these days though there are sparks of individuality in some bands here in America. Anyway, maybe I'm in a music funk right now. I don't want to listen to anything cause I'm tired of my cd collection at this time. Well - Interpol is good always. |
sorry to not know but where is Beck from?...
Brit rock is awesome, much more fun overall. |
i think it would depend on where you are from. american rock is all starting to sound the same. brit rock is new to most americans, so they would probably say that brit rock is better. british people may be thinking the same thing as americans are about their rock and opt for something different.

If you mean mainstream then British easily.

I wanted to say American rock right off the bat, but after looking at my cds I'm seeing alot of british stuff in there. Especially the stuff that I would consider classics.

I might say Brit as a whole but theres plenty of good american rock bands as well. Pearl Jam aren't british, Lynyrd Skynyrd aren't british, The Eagles are from L.A., Journey are from San Francisco all of em are still making music after all these years and touring. But some of the best ever have been from Europe.... Led Zepplin, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Queen, Bad Company, etc. So ya know all these european bands usually have some evolution of the sound of thier predescesors...most of the good American bands sound a lot like the legendary European bands. So as far as today's music scene goes I'm pretty sure the brits are gonna be the ones held in the highest favor.

I have a lot of CD's from current British bands:
Doves Starsailor Supergrass Oasis Placebo Rialto Radiohead Coldplay I also have every Pink Floyd album and most Beatles albums. That said, there are some American bands that I really like as well. Of course, some of them I like because they sound british (Secret Machines, Polyphonic Spree). |
British...

I don't listen to a lot of newer stuff, so my perspective would be more "classic". That is definitely a British advantage. Zeppelin, Beatles, Stones, The Who, Queen, Clapton, etc.
