Review: Massiv In Mensch - Menschdefekt

I know nobody listens to my kind of music, but I'll continue to write reviews for my own edification.

I got this CD earlier this week and I seriously cannot stop listening to it. To put it all out on the table, it's the best electro/trance/rave album I have ever heard. It's a masterful melding of oldschool Prodigy style, arena trance, and german industrial. Simply put, if you like rave music and if you like dark electronica, you should be compelled to look for this CD (most likely only gonna get it online) and buy it immediately. Every single track is great. There is only one track that doesn't try to be amazing, but it's still quite great. A female with an angelic voice shows up on a few of the tracks and adds a new level of enjoyment to them.

1. Doktor Born is the intro. It's moody and sets the stage. I can't say much because it's 2 minutes of monologue and thus does not count as a track.
2. Dark Rave is exactly what it says it is. It's perfect too, incorporating a little psytrance for texture.
3. Mein Leztzes Bonbon continues the trance pace and really solidifies the feel of actually being at a rave when you listen to this CD.
4. Vokuhila shifts to an ethereal trance/industrial mix of angry growling male lyrics and angelic, floating female lyrics.
5. Le-Rav moves more toward the angelic side of this experience. The song is slow and progressive.. like a journey... it's amazing.
6. Radius 17 M mixes a harsh march with a juvenile, whistful song from the female vocalist. It's haunting and enchanting.
7. Schach Matt bids farewell to the female for a while in favor of more standard (yet amazing) rave stuff.
8. A Gothic on XTC is the only uplifting song you hear, and it's still very very dark. Funny how that works.
9. Kopfschuss is a dark march that is joined by more hauntingly angelic female vocals.
10. Codo follows the same formula as Radius 17 M, except it's less of a march, and more of a fluid EBM backdrop.
11. Simsalabim is the only song that appears to be normal. It's still great, but it's not amazing like the rest. It's more rave music.
12. Kunstmutter, when I first heard it on Digital Gunfire, really stuck with me and is what made me pick this CD over the other 2 from M.I.M. It's got a goa trance feel to it, which is more psychadelic industrial, than actual trance.
13. Der Mann An Der Drehorgel is more rave music, but it's definately more remarkable than Simsalabim. It's got more dance potential.
14. You're The Greatest Lover is a hard song to describe. It feels as if it's not serious at all. It's a sissy little song, sung with grim distorted lyrics. BUT you still listen to the whole thing... every single time it plays. That says something.

In conclusion, I give this CD a 10 out of 10. It must not be missed.

this band has some really strange song titles (Vokuhila  ).
But it sounds good.

Halx do you know Laibach or Weena Morloch? Both are some really great electro industrial bands
