I really don't listen to a whole lot of country, but my ex-girlfriend did. Some of her favorites that I could appreciate too were Tracy Lawrence - Paint Me A Birmingham, and Martina McBride - Concrete Angel.

There aren't many songs that come on the country radio station that will make me stop and listen.

Most songs by Tim McGraw I love.

Theres a song called "It's a great day to be alive" or something like that.... By Travis Tritt. For some reason I really like that song.

Well, what kind of country? I know nothing about the Top-40, slick, overproduced, radio-friendly stuff. But if you want real hillbilly country music check out Hank Williams III (he's Hank Williams Jr.'s kid) and The Bad Livers. Dolly parton put out a CD with old-fashioned "hill music" on it. I don't remember the name of the CD, but "Silver Dagger" is one of the tracks.

As a country fan, I doubt you are going to get any real good answers to this thread.

It is like asking on here about "rock" songs everyone would like. There is so much around that can be considered "rock" that you won't get a good answer from anyone. The same is true with "country" songs.

My suggestion is to go to a CD site that lets you preview songs and listen to a bunch in the country section to find things you like. Or download them through means of questionable legality.

My fave country tracks:
Garth Brooks-Friends In Low Places; Longneck Bottle (anything Garth is good)
Big And Rich-Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy
Toby Keith-I Love This Bar
Alan Jackson-5 o'clock Somewhere
Brad Paisley-Little Moments
Anything Vince Gill

Hope this helps.

Check out AccuRadio.com, the Twang section. You'll get a fine education.

I'm not a big country fan, and I hate Top 40 anything, especially top 40 country (no offense, tspikes51, but all the artists there I've heard of are horrendous excuses for country, imho). that aside, I've taken a HUGE liking to The Cowboy Cultural Society . An online radio station (can also be found in the iTunes playlist) that plays AWESOME country music.
check it out!

"You Never Even Called Me By My Name" by David Allan Coe is quite possibly the best drinking song ever.

My favorites are George Strait & Randy Travis...particularly anything from the Ocean Front Property & Storms of Life albums....
