Greatest electric bassist of all time? Jaco Pastorious, hands down. No competition. I would like someone to tell me different.
Greatest alive? Michael Manring, he plays more than just the "lets see how many notes we can play with slapping" like Victor Wooten and Buddah Bill. Don't get me wrong, both are amazing players, but Michael Manring. Just check him out. Greatest double bass player? I'd have to say either Charles Mingus or Paul Chambers. Ron Carter is up there too in my opinion. |
hmmmmmm....tough desicion but my top favs are probably Victor Wooten, John Myung, Les Claypool, and my personal favorite is Ryan Martini (RyKnow) from Mudvayne

Les Claypool for sheer complexity
Melody wise, Alex Miller |
Victor Wooten, hands down.
