Accuradio.com is great! You can pick your genre (of course). You also get a couple of cool features:
1) You can skip a song if you don't like it. 2) You can select artists that you DON'T want to hear. It does use an activeX control w/the WMP back end, but it's not malicious. -BB PS - Very few commercials, too. |
Yeah, live365 used to be great. Then they started charging to broadcast. I used to have my own station with a few hundred listeners a day when it was free.
Either way, when I'm on my PC, I use LaunchCAST to listen to music, and when I'm on my Mac, I just use the iTunes built in radio. |
I like www.club977.com for my '80s fix....definitely the best free 80's station i've ever heard
|
if you like trance, I suggest www.philosomatika.com
for everything else, I listen to www.somafm.com , but mostly their cliqhop station. I'm upset they took away the Boot Liquor station. Coincidentally, I've also found that these are in the built in iTunes Radio list. they're also 100% commercial free. |
RadioStorm.com was really good, now no longer. Apparently most of the people who worked there have found a home at MantaRadio.com

Here is what I listen too. They have other links on their site. These are students, so the DJ'ing is crappy at time, but the music is good.

Winamp, Winamp, Winamp. In the Media Library, you have a whole slew of stations at your convenience. Check out Housemusique.

Tons of different stations on there to listen to (majority of the music is electronica, but they do have classical, new age, jazz, and salsa.) |
One of the most popular outlets for free live music!

Apple's iTunes has a list as well under the head 'Radio' And of course the main source for all your internet radio links is: http://www.shoutcast.com (which is where both iTunes and WinAmp get their internet radio lists from, as far as I know). |

The funny thing is that before I read your response...I was just about to recommend it again. :) I keep mentioning it because people keep asking the same questions over and over and over again.... But yeah, I love RP. I'm really glad that you found it and like it. |
I was just about to start a thread and this one came up! :)
I've been listening to streamingsoundtracks.com thru winamp's internet radio, and have been really impressed with the station. In the 4 days I've had it running, I've heard 5 minutes of non music related promotion blurbage by the station. Not many people are into soundtracks/classical music, but I LOVE it because it touches all different genres of movies and gets their sound in. Ie. Matrix Reloaded soundtrack is playing right now, five minutes ago was a song from the Italian movie "Bella a Mia". |
