Pissed off at Megadave (rant)

So Megadave decided that the orginal releases of Peace Sells, So Far, Rust in Peace, Countdown, Youthanasia, Crypitic Writings, and Risk weren't good enough (or he needed extra money) so he goes the George Lucas route and makes remastered versions and now they are released.

I've already bought all those albums at least once so I'm downloading the shit, but that's beside the point. Last night I got the new version of So Far, So Good... So What! I listened to it on my way to work today and I must say that I am very disappointed with it.

The original album and a bit on a reverb overkill and I was expecting it to be a little toned down and everything else more clean. What I got was an album stripped of all the reverb, vocals that sounded weaker than before, and to top it all off; HE FUCKING CHANGED PARTS OF THE SONGS!!!!!!!

I can understand that Dave felt there were problems with the original release and wanted to fix them. That's fine, but he went overboard. By completely removing the reverb, echo, and delay effects he ripped out the soul of the album. He also toned down backup vocals, but the biggest sin of all was to make additions, subtractions, and changes to parts of the songs. I've only listened to it once so far, but I've already noticed 3 changes:

1) Into the Lungs of Hell - After the band kicks in with the intro riff, just before the solo starts there is some thing going on with horns. Mabye it was hidden, it should have stayed that way
2) Set the World on Fire - He cut the intro tune in half
3) In My Darkest Hour - The completely changed the first two bars of the song. It throws the song off and fucks it up. This is the worst by far.

There are alternate remasters of Into the Lungs of Hell, Set the World on Fire, Mary Jane, and In My Darkest Hour. I have only listened to about 20 seconds of those but from what I heard, those versions cleaned up the reverb a little bit without going overboard and left the original feeling intact. Right now, I'm trying to figure out why the whole album couldn't have been like those four songs.

Beyond that album, I don't see why he needed to update anything past SFSGSW. Those were all recorded with good techniques and Rust in Peace is as close to perfection as you can get. No matter what he does Risk will never be a good album.

Why was it even necessary?

It gets even worse. According to reviews I've been reading Dave re-recorded the vocals for all but two songs on the Rust in Peace album. That is so wrong.

When I first read it, I thought it was about Dave Mustaine and booze again. Don't know who Megadave is. Got a link? I'll check it out.

Megadeth basically is Dave Mustaine, therefore he's Megadave.

Megadeth was always the red-headed step-brother of Metallica, and always will be
