I didn't say St. Anger was "harder" than their old stuff. I said it was hardcore Metallica, and it is. I understand exactly what Metallica "was." I'm a "real" Metallica fan, too. Looks like you fall into my aformentioned category listed on IGN! I simply said that they're my favorite songs, and they happen to be "harder" than Metallica's in-between music. Why start an argument about their stuff in between? Did I say it was "hard?" No. I didn't say it was their best music, either. You actually nailed it on the head -- they haven't did hardcore metal music for a long time, and St. Anger is the closest they've been in years. Stop skimming my posts and actually read it! You agreed to half of what I said but decided to argue anyway. -Lasereth

I think it's all opinion when it comes to Metallica. Obviously people like to obsess over these guys (look at all the long posts) without realizing that to some people, to a LOT of people, Metallica never "happened." They are just as good as they were back in the day, but they have changed. Like you and me. Everybody changes. I, for one, love St. Anger. A lot of you would have complained that "it's just the same old stuff" if they would have put out something like Justice or Master of Puppets. If it was like Load or Reload, they would have "sold out." I am very happy they decided to piss ALL OF YOU off and make something that doesn't sound pretty and pleasing. Try listening to St. Anger when you are pissed off at something. Then you will see what they have accomplished with the album. I mean hell, it's called "St. Anger." Angry? yeah. They are angry at a lot of things, and when you are angry, the "mastering" and "drums" and "solos" don't matter. Making music matters. Whether you like it or not. And I like it.
