So...um....CD Doctors....

Do they actually work? I got a lot of scratched CD's n stuff. I see this model everywhere

It costs like 30 fuckin bucks but if it actually fixes scratches then I'll fuckin buy it cause it's worth it. I'd spend way more getting all my CD's again. Well lemme know yo!

I'm not sure if CD Doctors work or not, but for minor scratches you can try scotch tape. Just put it over the scratch, then remove. Has worked for me a few times.

i got a cd dr. it works decently most the time. the ones it doesnt its the picture (information side) and no matter what you do its still going to skip.
so i guess what im trying to say is, wait for a special occasion for someone to buy it for you instead of using your own $30

Some old friends used to work at OnCue, and they all said the CD Doc's are good for very minor scratches. She said its best to have it done on a professional machine to get the bad ones out. It works deeper into the CD and can maintain a constant speed to the new finish is even.

Haha.....so small scratches work. This is good cause most of mine have minor scratches. If it doesn't work I think I should blow up the company....but don't tell anyone.

as a semi unrelated side note, i put all my cds on the computer and put in $100 for a minidisc player. it holds 300minutes of music a disc and you can put a tape player adapter like for your car into a stereo or car and wala much more convenient

What's a minor vs major scratch?

Most of my CDs have minor scratches and never skip, but some are wayyyyy scratched (not gouged).. and don't play worth a damn on the 2nd or 3rd song (it's always one of those two).

This may be the truth or a rumor, but supposedly those CD doctors actually take off a layer of the clear coat on the bottom of the cd, which would mean you could only use it a few times on a cd before you get down to the paint. Anyone know if this is true or not?

Yeah it's true buddy....it scratches it down even worse than the scratches you had before and somehow fixes it. Assuming this theory actually works I haven't tested it yet. Wish I knew a friend who had one I could try it out.

It buffs the disc, creating countless microscopic scratches running from teh hub to the edge, reducing the negative effect of any hairline scratches it may have had going in other directions. I tired it on a disc that was scratched and still working, and the disc has not worked since then. Draw your own conclusions from this.

You have to keep the surface very wet while doing it, and sometimes it can take off a layer of the disc. I once saw a Sims Bustin Out for console that had been resurfaced, and only the french version worked after.

Insane

I have one and it just depends. I've had video games that stopped working and with one use they worked again, right there it was worth the 30 dollars so i'm happy with it. It just depends on the scratch, whether it will work or not.

im not trying to belittle you but you buffed out the scratches right?
the pad is supposed to get rid of all the mini "fixing" buffs and if you do it long enough the cd looks pretty new with no scratches and clear reflection

There is an alternative - instead of removing a layer of the CD, you can add one.
I keep seeing commercials for this product, and I don't know how well it fixes scratches, but it's supposed to work well to prevent them. It's a thin sleeve that you snap over your disc.
Their main website, www.d-skin.com seems to be down at the moment, but there is this review if you want to read a little more about it.
