WHAT SONG BRINGS YOU MEMORIES??
What sonf brings you the feeling of warmth?? When your depressed, happy, angry? or just when you hear it, wisks you back to the past no matter what you are doing when you hear it? Let us know...!!!!
|
Can you please stop yelling in your subject titles?
But to keep on subject, Linkin Park has helped me through a lot of tough times, and I've been listening to them long before they were even called Linkin Park, so I think they would be my final answer. :) |
That hurts me........I am not shouting! I'm just excited to ask these questions. I know I know....caps means yelling. I will stop.
|
Yes, please do stop shouting. People will contribute by choice, not because you have an all caps addiction. That doesn't do anything but distract people.
|
I have alot of songs that bring back memories. For me memories come and go. Ill be listening to a song that i would normally listen to and then an old memory from the song will pop into my mind.
And I have alot of memories from Linkin Park. or Hybrid theory. both I guess, that is the only album of there that I really like. I forget the track # 12 or something. about breaking up w/ a girl and it all being a waste of time..... that one hits the brain... |
Caps Lock notwithstanding, this is a good question. I notice I tend to associate certain songs with very specific times in the past rather than a general mood. Even mundane days are immediately brought back when I hear some song again. Certain smells can have a similar effect, but not quite to the same degree for me. Although I'm no neurologist, it would seem that music recalling memories is a more evolved form of learning not to stick one's hand in a fire.

Yeah, specific times and places.
"Fast Car," Tracy Chapman. Sunset on the Gulf of Siaman, '88. Was staying in this little tourist hut thing -- kind of a thatched-roof motel, with no cars -- on Koh Samui. For some reason, they'd play "Fast Car" late into the evening at the open-air bar/cafe, and it'd echo out down the beach and out to sea into the velvet night. "You've Lost That Loving Feeling," the Righteous Brothers. For some reason, brings back memories of being 10 years old in the back of my folks' '61 Buick with my feet hanging out the window as the old man tooled it down country roads in Napa County on a summer Sunday, the Righteous Brothers crooning from the tinny AM radio. |
nostalgia, its no good/
our future is not in our past. --gang of four that sure brings back memories...... |
Boys of summer by Don Henley
What might have been by Little Texas Purple Rain by Prince |
Again I'm sorry for the caps thing.
Sweet Child O mine, takes me to the exact place and time I ever heard the song. Sitting on my motorcycle in a tavern parkinglot (because I was too young to get in). Hangin with my best buds, talking about how excited we were to start our military training. The summer before we enlisted. We lived like there was no tommorrow and had no problems, worries or responsibilities. It was now or never in our minds. What a great memory! Oh ya....Take My Breath Away, by Berlin. Night of the Jr. Prom and the first time I got laid. WOW....that song still makes my horny. :) |
There are a lot of songs that bring back memories... mostly unbidden.
The one that never fails is "Wicked Game" by Chris Issac. I had short lived fling back in 1990 with a woman and this song always reminds me of her and that time... very bittersweet. |
"Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin, for the same reason that Charlatan cited above...in the same time period as it happens, the early 1990's.
|
Where to start... So many songs remind me of so many things that have occured. Some good some bad. I remember years by songs that came out, etc. I attach meaning with almost everything I hear.
|
Badfish by Sublime. That takes me back to the good times towards the end of highschool and the summer after I graduated.
|
Let me add a couple of more:
My eyes adored you - I think that was Frankie Valle. I remember riding in the backseat with my girlfriend over the mountain in El Paso with some friends in his dads car and all he had was AM radio. Nothing Compares to You - Sinead O'Conner My now wife and I were about to break up and then that song came on. |
Bohemian Rhapsody and Foxey Lady will always take me back to Wayne's World. The singing and headbanging in the car for the former and Garth fantasizing about Heather Locklear (I think that's who it was) are such classic and cherished movie moments for me. Oh, you weren't talking about movies...
I went with my then girlfriend to buy the White Stripe's album De Styjl. We played it in the car on the way home, and loved it so much we drove around for three hours listening to it. We had W.S. tickets for either the next night or sometime in the following week, and they show was amazing. It was such a great fun few days for both of us. Hearing those songs always takes me back to that. |
Big Log by Robert Plant.
There's just something about that song that reminds me of high school and chillin' with my friends. BTW - Has anyone her the Viktor Krauss' version of that song? --Fantastic!!!!! BB |
"Solsbury Hill" - Peter Gabriel
While I don't have any specific memory associated with this song, it always makes me feel great, alive, and well just happy to be. Other than that... I'd deffinently go with anything by Sublime. That stuff always reminds me of past summers... back when life was a little more simple. |
Sinatra and Nat Cole bring back a lot of memories
|
Pere Ubu - "Street Waves"
It was the song that was playing when I got the shit stomped out of me in a parking lot once. Had a pool cue broken over my head, both eyes swelled shut, broken fingers... I still like the song, though. |
Joy Division's "Atmosphere". That one got me through the biggest breakup of my life.
|
Delirium - Silence (tiesto remix) the best night of my life, new years eve 2003 on Sydney Harbour, raving away to the tunes of DJ Tiesto with 15,000 other people.
