If you haven't heard of this group, I think you're missing out. It's a very hard band, goth metal style mixed with opera singing.... I'm of the opinion that it's incredible.

Particularly you should investigate "After Forever - Leaden Legacy (The Embrace that Smothers part I)"

I recommend downloading first (I don't do that) because it's a 43 dollar import (I'm in Indiana)

It also happens to be one kick ass sabbath song. :)

Any links to streaming audio or something similar? The description is promising.

Sorry, I searched for some earlier and I can't find anything that's streaming. Online music isn't my forté, unfortunately.

Well, I just tried the streaming audio, and it is so over-compressed that I can't tell what I'm listening to. And they aren't on the iTunes Music Store.

I suppose if you guys are very nice and ask me very nicely I could put my favorite song up on my personal webspace for your download amusement?

OK, I'm giving it a second listen as I type this. I like almost everything about it. I'm going to give it the same review I gave Lacuna Coil elsewhere on these boards: I like everything except for the angry Cookie Monsters in the background.

Is that a standard element of whatever genre this is? I mean, the backup singers are able to sing; they do so on the verses. But they hit the refrain and just growl. For me, this ruins it.

But the lead vocalist is very nice, and the combination of strings and metal is great.

I can't wait to get "Invisible Circles". theendrecords.com is going to have it in stock soon and it should only be 13 or 14 dollars for US folks. Then I'll have to work on getting the new Nightwish disc , which I can't currently find for much less than $30. :( Anyway, Within Temptation is also another good group in this same vein.

Nightwish and Within Temptation do not have "growly" vocals. Nightwish is the absolute cream of the crop of this style of music. Although that's to down WT, because they are equally as talented, however they currently only have one album out and it's fairly hard to come by, wheras Nightwish has several albums, and all but the newest are pretty readily available at most major online outlets.

A couple of other similar "ungrowly" bands to check out are Artrosis and Delight (not to br confused with Dee-lite :D )

I downloaded some Nightwish at the suggestion of mrklixx and I agree with him completely, this band is the cream of the crop of this genre of music. I, however, do not mind the growly sounds so I really like AF too, but that's all good.

Thanks for introducing me to Nightwish, they are a superior band.
