The "Reccomend an Album" Linkage Thread (read rules on first post)

Ok, here's how this is going to work:

- I'll mention an album I really like.

- The next poster should then reccomend me an album I might like based on the album I posted.

- That poster then posts an album he/she likes (and it doesn't have to relate to the previous albums in any way).

- For example: I could say I like "Some Devil" by Dave Matthews, and the next person says "Eat at Godot's" by Ralph Covert. That person then says they like "The Marshall Mathers LP" and the next poster will make a reccomendation based on that, and so forth.

Hopefully this will introduce people to new music!

So I'll start.

I like "Revival" by Reverend Horton Heat.

I gotcha covered. I'm die-hard Reverend fan, so this recommendation will be easy; I just hope this one is new to you.

The band: The Amazing Crowns (aka- The Amazing Royal Crowns)

Best Album: Self-Titled Debut under the latter name.

Not Psychobilly, but some great stand-up bass action and great lyrics about hot rods and chicks. Most Rockabilly mixes I create for the road, include the Rev. and the Crowns.

EDIT:

Whoops! Forgot to list a band. Here's mine:

Cool. Now it's your turn to list an album fo someone else can reccomend one.

Recommendation for Television: Marquee Moon:

The Soft Boys: Underwater Moonlight

You may already know about it but a recommendation for Uncle Tupelo - Anodyne:

And here's one I like:

Booray 07-07-2004 12:30 PM

Yeah, I've got the Minus 5 album and enjoy it. Been meaning to check Gomez out, but still haven't heard any. Might need to hit their website to see how I like them.

sherpahigh 07-07-2004 12:57 PM

I'll try to think of another for ya then if you've already got the minus 5 one. Be forwarned that Gomez is quite different than UT and the like. Still good, just different.

sherpahigh 07-07-2004 01:01 PM

Alright, here's another try for a recommendation for Uncle Tupelo - Anodyne:

I like lots of different types of music, so I'll definitely check them out soon. Been hearing lots of good buzz from others about them.

Thanks. While I think I've heard the band name before, I know nothing about them. Will give them a listen.

Derwood 07-07-2004 01:59 PM

I think our linkage is breaking down. I didn't intend for more than one reccomendation to be on the table at once. So which album is on the table currently?

I'm not really sure myself. I think a couple of people saw the topic "Recommend an Album" and just thought they were supposed to recommend an album they liked instead of recommending an album for the last person who posted and then posting an album they like that they want a recommendation for. Maybe if you change the subject of the thread to something like "Recommend album based on previous post" or something to that effect, people will take heed of the first post and follow suit (can't remember if the board will let you change thread topics or not).

Derwood 07-07-2004 04:06 PM

I tried editing the thread title and couldn't. Perhaps an moderator can change the thread title to:

"The "Reccomend an Album" Linkage Thread (read rules on first post)"

Esen 07-07-2004 05:15 PM

The Mollusk- Ween
Small Change- Tom Waits
On the road to Freedom- Alvin Lee & Mylon Lefevre
The Stranger- Billy Joel
Ten- Pearl Jam

These are just a few great albums, not my top of my list albums but just good albums all different from each other

World's King 07-07-2004 05:23 PM

Primus - Sailing the Seas of Cheese

http://www.music-atlas.com/images/al..._of_cheese.jpg

brianna 07-07-2004 07:18 PM

hmm this is a cool thread idea so i'd like to keep it going in the intended way -- so, i'm going to just go ahead and say that one of my favorite albums is Neko Case "furnace room lullaby"

http://shadowy.brainiac.com/neko2.jpg

please pleaseplease recommend something to me.

Krycheck 07-07-2004 09:06 PM

Wow, have no idea what band that is or what kind of music that is.

So I'll just recommend my own stuff:

13th Step - A Perfect Circle

I don't think you have to be a fan of Maynard or Tool to enjoy this one. Just a fan of good rock music. It's a great album on so many levels.

And just for something different the Yeah Yeah Yeahs new album. I just love her vocals.

I could use some recommendations myself.

brianna 07-07-2004 10:06 PM

neko case is an alt country singer -- actually Booray (the ucle tupelo fan above) may like her a fair bit.

trickyy 07-07-2004 10:12 PM

ok, to continue the alt-country element of this thread, i'll recommend li'l cap'n travis.

Doesn't really look like anyone's gettin it. Cool idea for a thread though, too bad it hasn't caught on yet.
