Non-Stereotypical Romantic Music

This is kind of strange but what band do you listen to when you're trying to get into the mood that isn't your stereotypical romantic band or music?

Let me explain. The Deftones are one of the most romantic bands ever. I know this sounds strange but it's true. I've gotten more pussy while listening to them then any other band. It's not the type of music that you think of when trying to get laid but for some reason all that screaming and hard guitar seem work. To tell you the truth all that smooth R&B shit like Usher and who the fuck ever else annoy the shit out of me. I don't find it romantic at all. It gets me in the mood to shoot someone more then it want to fuck someone.

Okay... so name some of your non-stereotypical romantic bands.

Yeah I can go with the Deftones... Passenger is a great song for makin' love.

SixEdxMia 06-23-2004 08:44 PM

<3 Pink floyd.

pentagrammaton 06-23-2004 09:04 PM

yup, deftones is definitely it.. with all the shit i'm listenin', having an "alternative" to all the heavy shit im into right now (cannibal, cof, slayer.. etc..), "digital bath" sets my mood right.. kinda surreal, laid back, depressing.. hehe..

I love the last track on Poison the Well's 2nd album. It seems like a love song of sorts. In Pieces is good stuff, Armsbendback, Autechre (Amber), Bloodhound Gang, Boards of Canada, Deftones' Adrenaline is a good one too, From Autumn to Ashes (1st album), and skycamefalling are some of my atypical favorites.

Wow...

This thread sucked more than I thought it would.

Type O Negative.

Oh yeah!

Tinker 06-25-2004 03:30 PM

NIN further down the spiral gets me going....
if I am feeling romantic like then Afrocelt sound system

QuasiMojo 06-25-2004 04:33 PM

the less lyrics the better...words get in the way as ah commence to getting mah swerve on.
it could be the greatest groove in the world playing, but as soon as I hear another voice besides me and my amore... the swerve kicks down a notch. vocals need to be secondary almost an afterthought.

For making love- Enya, Pink Floyd
For fucking- smokin' blues with backbone a la SRVaughn
For masturbation-The Beasty Boys
:)

E-Nomine works for me..not what I would call "romantic" but it MOST DEFINATELY gets me in the mood.

for those who dont recognize the name they are a german band that does that sound like demonic choir songs (thats the best way I know how to explain it) like music for the Omen movies

World's King 06-28-2004 12:06 AM

So we got a few votes for Floyd and many agree with The Deftones...

What else we got?

SinisterMotives 06-28-2004 12:11 AM

I think the Cure's music is romantic as hell in an odd obsessive way sometimes.

Nope. I tried it once and it wasn't my thang. I'm a little old for that now anyhow.

Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis by Ralph Vaughan Williams

This is probably as romantic as it gets, but i think it is extremely "sexy" as well... dont know why...some irrational thing i guess :D

quadro2000 06-28-2004 09:49 AM

Duran Duran. And I'm not going to get into any more details than that.

And Garbage.

dylanmarsh 06-28-2004 10:12 AM

Led Zeppelin's First Album. Great slow bass and Plant screaming out orgasmically. Can't beat that with your special lady friend nearby.

Jadey 06-28-2004 10:38 AM

I prefer a lot of big Beat/Breakbeat type of stuff like Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Basement Jaxx, Propellerheads, Cirrus, etc.

HOWEVER,...

That doesn't seem to work as well as a little "trip-hop". Some Tricky, Portishead, Massive Attack, Lamb, The Verbrilli Sound (Don Verbrilli), etc. It's kinda mellow and relaxing, but has a beat.

I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan and would be lying if "Animals" or "WYWH" hadn't made thier way into the CD Player at certain points. Never gone with the Deftones, but since someone mentioned "Passenger" I do remember going with some TOOL on more than one occasion.

Jadey 06-28-2004 10:40 AM

Oh, and I forgot the Doors--in particular "The Soft Parade" album. That's been the music of choice in a few instances.

soopafreek 06-28-2004 11:59 AM

been shaggin' a lot to Massive Attack. and older AIR (french band).

Exodus 06-28-2004 05:04 PM

Love the LORDS OF ACID!

hilbert25 06-28-2004 09:26 PM

Definitely the Deftones, they just make the girlies go wild.

Trip Hop also works astonishingly well.

But don't forget: The Violent Femmes.

World's King 06-29-2004 12:46 AM

I'm so glad that so many of you agree that The Deftones are sexy as hell.

Makes me happy.
