High energy techno/trance?

What are some good techno/trance songs that are high-energy. None of this ambience, new age stuff. Example, most of Darude's Sandstorm.

Thanks

Paul Oakenfold (I think that's how it's spelled) has some really good stuff, I have his Tranceport CD.

brandon11983 06-06-2004 01:45 PM

Paul van Dyk (thats my man right there!), Sasha, John Digweed, Tiesto, Baby Anne, Astral Projection, Lexicon 4, the Prodigy (early)

You may wanna check out some happy hardcore. From www.allmusicguide.com :

Quote:

Gradually evolving from the English rave scene of the late '80s and early '90s, Happy Hardcore featured many of the same elements that characterized rave: impossibly high beats per minute, similarly fast synthesizer/piano runs, and vocal samples altered to make the most soulful diva sound like a warbling chipmunk. The jungle/drum'n'bass movement had also emerged from rave, but the two scenes split and grew quite anathemic. The positive vibes of happy hardcore were criticized by most clubgoers as music for the drugged-out youth, but just as the hardcore-into-jungle scene found favor with critics later in the decade, a certain amount of respect for happy hardcore appeared as well. The work of combination DJ/producers such as Slipmatt, Hixxy & Sharkey, Force & Styles, and DJ Dougal produced innumerable compilations, as well as the inevitable solo production LPs.

BT has some good stuff, some of it is fast, some slow, but all good to me.

zfleebin 06-08-2004 12:36 PM

Dj Micro, Carl Cox, John Kelly, Sandra Collins. Most of these guys mixes are hard.
If you want vinyl I would suggest:
Flowtation (digital blond remix)
Liberation (Ferry Corsten remix)
Stargazer- all mixes of this rock
Supernova- see above
Time
C'est Musique

oakenfold and darude are the poo...

youd probably be interested in Joy Kitikonti, BK, Voodoo and Serano, Ferry Corsten, Dynamic Intervention, Cosmic Gate...

Not particualarly my fav, im a trance nazi though, very little I like. More in to the jungle side of tings....

edit:

and please... PLEASE dont suggest happy hardcore. It's the disease of electronic music. It's what makes dateline specials happen and *most* of it's following is underage drug users that give the rest of us a bad name.

do a google search for ishkur's guide to music...
it's if not a definitive source of all types of music...he breaks it all down..it's absolutly amazing

Roger Sanchez, Bassment Jaxx, Crystal Method, Sasha, Digweed, Dieselboy, Dj Irene, Bad Boy Bill (Shake that ass and bounce them tits is a good one) and some Tiesto may suit your taste

House is usually upbeat and so it drum and bass. Those are my faves. so are jungle and lounge beats.

RoboBlaster 06-09-2004 04:18 PM

Hey now, I can only take a few minutes of happy hardcore, myself. But, someone else may grow to like it. To each his or her own, might as well let them have a chance to get to like it.

DJ Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren a must have in any collection. Tiesto's Magik Compilations, Armin's compilations. Also check out In Trance we Trust Series of Compilations... www.blackholerecordings.nl.

Also Kai Tracid, DJ Talla2xlc, Johan Gielen and some Deep Dish.

i will never forgive a single soul that recommends without some alterior motive (say, causing insanity) happy hardcore. just so everyone is appraised :)

id have to go with the tried and true favs, sasha/digweed, some oakenfold (newer stuff is largely uninspired, nearly all the tracks off 'Bunnka' were infinitely better remixed by other, 'hipper' acts, such as deep dish), deep dish :p, dj marky has some excellently dance-inspiring tracks (drum n bass hailing from brazil). If you were able to find it, give his essential mix from last year a try, a live recording of a show he put on with MC Stamina at one of the festivals in the UK. continuing!: carl cox, adam freeland (old school detroit influences), benny benassi, sven vaeth (his latest album was pretty damned good in my opinion, some of the more faithful may disagree).

and last but certainly not least, Agoria, aka the Parisian DJ Sebastien Devaud. Awesome meld of techno/house, with a flavoring of trance (positively love the basslines in his debut album "Blossom". if you can find a copy, get it, amazon selling an import to the US presently). in fact, im listening to it right at this moment :)
if youre not referenced to the whole electronica genre, an easy way to ease yourself into it is making it a point to listen to the essential mix via radio1's website.
they offer their weekly show streamed free for a full week after the show, so no worries about the legality of obtaining rips online (if one were determined one could find them, but again, legality is questionable).

regards

no offense here, but most of the suggestions on here are not worthwhile for someone seeking "good" artists [some of the newer ones, though..!.]. But I guess he did point out Darude, so maybe this tripe is in tune. ;)
I'd like to suggest to you Hallucinogen the album The Lone Deranger for something more melodic, and Digital Talk for something much harder.

Agreed! though you MUST take Ishkur's guide with a BIG grain of salt. Ish is a comedian first and foremost, and a house head second; so his guide is a bit biased, but still pretty well right on.

the trick with getting to like and appreciate happy hardcore is to understand just how BAD it is. it's one of those oddities that's just SO BAD that it's BAAAD, like good. like tiny tim, or lil' kim, happy hardcore speaks to the dark hidden part of our brain that relishes in all that is cliche'd, wrong, and/or disgusting.
I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in the northwest, the happy/hardcore scene(s) are probably the cleanest segment of the scene.

imho, of course..

Senor Roboto 06-13-2004 10:36 AM

I don't really listen to much trance, but I must say Robert Miles and Taucher are pretty cool to listen to.
