I just found this site:

There's not that many songs on it right now (well, 25,000+ including classical music) but it should help those who are trying to figure out a song. Basically, if you can hum or whistle it, you can describe the melody with the "Parsons code." You type in "D," "U", or "R" which represent Down, Up, or Repeat. If the song is in the database, you'll find it.

So for example: the opening riff of Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water goes like this:
*UUDUUDDUUDD
The * indicates the starting point.

So now that I've given you such valuable and useful information, y'all can pay me back by helping me identify my song in the "what song is this" thread. Thanks!
