Very good Beatles animation
Takes a while to start, but worth it. By the way, does anyone understand the lyrics ?

There simply CANNOT be a Beatles thread on TFP without a reply from me somewhere.
Now, when you say "understand the lyrics," how much time have you got? **warrrreagl rolling up his sleeves*** The simple answer is that the title refers to simultaneous orgasm, and the lyrics are John's self-portrait description of himself and his new life with Yoko.

I just watched it again, and the animator actually took the trouble to have Paul's bass playing match the actual fingering of the main bass line.
Now that's really impressive.

Joo-joo eyeball refers to the glasses John wears. Hair down to his knee refers to John's extremely long hair in 1969. Joker refers to John's playful nature and attitude. Quote:
Toe-jam football is Lennon nonsense, but may refer in some way to being a British football fan. Lennon was notorious for making up nonsense words and phrases that almost seem to make sense. Monkey finger is a stab at his own guitar playing technique. He shoot coca-cola refers to his practice back then of shooting speedballs (coke and heroin). Quote:
Walrus gumboot refers to "I Am the Walrus" and a British slang for rubber boots. Ono sideboard refers to Yoko being his new sidekick. Spinal cracker could refer to a ton of things, but my personal opinion is that he is referring to himself as being a heavy dude (and his very coolness will break your back). Feet down below his knee is probably more Lennon nonsense and just happened to rhyme with the correct number of syllables. Hold you in his armchair you can feel his disease is probably another way of saying "You can't know what someone is going through until you've walked a mile in his shoes." Quote:
Muddy Water may refer to the great American blues guitarist who was living in London at that time. Mojo filter is probably a reference to the blues songs that feature voodoo as subject matter. One and one and one is three is a reference to Lennon's refusal to communicate with trite language (as usually people say "one and one is two"). So hard to see refers to Lennon's unavailability to the radical groups that were wooing him as a spokesman for their causes. I'd be welcome to hear of any alternative explanations.

Very very interesting, warrrreagl, thanks for taking the time to post all of that. I still don't see the song as making much sense, but it's still a great number.

I'm not sure what kind of "sense" John was trying to make, as I don't believe this song has any kind of message or tells any kind of story.
It is almost like a musical Haiku; imagine John looking at a snapshot of himself and setting the description of what he sees to music. Also, the heavily reverbed sound at the beginning that sounds like an old phone dialing is John saying the words "shoot" and "shoot me" and having it echoed. The words were a reference to his heroin use. Kind of ironic words considering how he died, huh?

That was an awesome animation, thanks for the link.
I had not heard the song in a long time and this reaffirms my asertion that the Beatles are the greatest group of musicians in the last 100 years...thanks again.
