my favourite so far is Ageis Polis
I've liked what I've heard of his work up until now so I'm gonna start buying his albums soon. Any suggestions of which I should purchase first?

The best would be "Come to Daddy". Once you have absorbed it and like all the tracks, the rest are far game. Now, personally, I would stay away from "Drukqs" and "26 Mixes for Cash" because they are both his newest works and they have changed sound from his previous albums. A good friend of mine loved Drukqs and didn't believe what I was saying about the difference in his new music from old, until I broke out my entire collection. She was amazed when I played them. I'm trying to find one of my cds right now. Maybe someone here can help me. The cd was completely blank on both sides and done under the Aphex Twin or analogue bubble bath names. I don't recall the songs on the cd or how many. All I know is there was a couple I REALLY liked and now the cd has vanished. Thanks for any help! Also, I have both of his produced tapes. The Window Licker video is so cool and I absolutely love the last 30-45 seconds of the song.

Aphex Twin *invented* that style of idm/glitch/drill'n'bass/whatever. Come To Daddy was pretty much the first song like that - you can't be cliche' if it hasn't been done before! -PulpMind (signed under roomate's acct) |

kl0pper, Aphex Twin did not invent electronica or IDM, but he DID take it and make sorts of things that no one else had. Take the track Omgyjya Switch 3 or Mt. St. Michel + Saint Michael's Mount or 54 Cymru Beats and show me something else like it.
CSflim, Firestarter is nothing like CTD...plus it only predates CTD by 3 months.

Aphex Twin is an incredible innovator in electronic music and those tracks you mention are a far better example of that. I could imagine many negative things being said about the Twin, but to say he is unoriginal and chliched is just plain....wrong!

I love RDJ's stuff. Surprisingly though, possibly my favorite track is so atypical of him. Can't remember the name (might be Nanou? too lazy to look it up) It's a music box/chime composition, believe it's on the windowlicker single.

I like "i care because you do" and I have the Ventolin CD Single, with all the different mixes of that song.
And to fall asleep to Selected Ambient works volume 2 does make for some amazing dreams. I'm gonna have to put that back into rotation on my Ipod now!!! Thanks for the reminder of a great artist!

though i agree that DrukQs isnt the tip top of aphex, there are a few redeemable tracks, namely Meltphace 6, and Come to Daddy [little lord faulteroy mix] (that latter track may be on another compilation but im not presently at my mp3 computer)

just so people are aware
Come to Daddy was a parody of Firestarter I want to your soul was somethings screamed by a fan apparently, and RDJ made a song out of it. I personally enjoy all of his music and think that he is a great innovator. He's a loose cannon tah boot
