I just got reminded of something once again this evening. See I'm really into reggae music of all kinds. I've literally got hundreds of records, CD's, tapes, etc.

So since i'm real into reggae music, sometimes I forget that groups that are legendary and easily recognizable to me aren't necessarily well-known if even known at all by the general public.

How many people know who The Skatalites are? If you normally listen to reggae or ska music, could you recognize them instantly upon hearing any one of their tunes, even if the particular song wasn't familiar to you?

They are the foundation of Ska and Reggae music and have been rockin steady for 40 years so far. And they are touring to this day.

In fact they are touring next week!

On a side note, how about Toots and the Maytals? Toots Hibbert coined the term "reggae" and he is still around and goin strong too. Another reggae legend!!

I love the Skatalites. They haven't been here in a long time, and too bad none of those shows are close to me.
