All time favorite concert (not concerts)
 

Hey.... what's the best show you've been to? Give it alot of thought, because you only have one to choose from.
Mine would definately be Bruce Springsteen. I saw him at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center for the Born in the USA tour. He came out and did Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Who'll stop the rain" and never stopped playing for 4 1/2 hours. The energy that he and the E Street band displayed was unbelievable. This was a show, not like the recent show that 50 cent did at a local university where he came out an hour and 15 minutes late and only played for 40 minutes.

I think the best concert I've seen was the first time I saw Billy Joel. It was on the River of Dreams tour in Cincinnati. He was just all over the place for the entire show, and didn't really slow down at all. I was blown away by the performance of him and his band.

I'd have to say that my favorite concert was with Wyclef. It was part of some tour featuring the Black Eyed Peas, De La Soul. It was in an auditorium with assigned seats and security were being jackasses, making sure everybody was sitting in their seats and crap, so the crowd didn't really get into it for the first two groups.

About 2 songs into Wyclef's set the crowd was kind of quiet, due to the oppressive security. So Wyclef calls off security, and in about 20 seconds all 3000 people of the venue are now in the first 10 rows, standing on the chairs and going nuts. I ended up about 6 feet from the stage. He then spent the next 3 hours covering all of his songs and all of the Fugee's stuff, even some 80's stuff. More so than any other performer I've seen, he had the audience in the palm of his hand.

The best concert I've seen would have to be when I saw Bob Dylan and Paul Simon in concert in Las Vegas in 1997 (maybe '98). It was my first time seeing Dylan in concert and it blew me away. The energy emitted from "Highway 61" and "Like a Rolling Stone" was just out of this world. Paul Simon was incredible as well, and seeing them take the stage together made that day unforgetable.

Reel Big Fish and Goldfinger playing Bogarts in Cincinnati. 5 bands on that tour with 2 headliners. Found a new favorite band that night in Riddlin Kids.

Saw Pink Floyd in some stadium in Hamilton, Ontario many years ago. They came out and played about an hour and a half set (mostly from Wish You Were Here). They took a break, and came back out right at sunset and played the entire Dark Side of the Moon album from start to finish. That wasn't enough though. Ended by playing Echos for about forty five minutes. I was totally blown away that night and still get chills thinking about it.

Fuck anyone who thinks I'm lame, I don't care. Say Bobby McFerrin about five years after "Don't Worry, Be Happy." He performed some alone and some with other singers, but the best moment by far was when he performed the violin part of Ave Maria with his voice, as several audience members sang the vocal part. I was brought to tears, it was so beautiful. Lots of rock concerts were good, but that one moment will always be with me.

I'd have to say Socil Distortion with Skinny Black Tie opening.
It was a great concert even if the venue was a concrete box.
I had a good friend who was also a beautiful woman with me and the music it all the right spots.

Best show was the Ronnie Lane benefit at Madison Square Garden.I was 18.My girlfriend was 15. Took a bus from Ottawa and ended up in N.Y. Eric Clapton,Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Pete Townsend, Joe Cocker, Steve Winwood and more.Great show,great time. 20 years later it's almost like a dream.

If I could only pick one it would have to be ZZ Top in a tiny venue right after the Apple Bowl in WA. Great football game, great buddies, great beer :D, then a kick ass concert with the best laser show I've seen yet. What a great day that was!

Jailhouse Rock Tour 2003. Saw The Unseen, Discipline (they sucked), Murphy's Law (lead singer funny as hell), Agnostic Front, and Hatebreed. 20 bucks for a fucking awesome show!!

Radiohead/Belly/The Bats

Would you believe Radiohead went on before Belly? They were touring to promote the Pablo Honey album, so they were still "that band with the Creep song."

Smallish club, beautiful night, friends around and cold drinks. Tanya Donnely and Thom Yorke singing Belly's "untogether" as a duet at the end...good show.

I've seen a LOT of great shows, but the best ever was Yes, the Union Tour at Riverfront Colesium in Cincinnatti, summer of 92. Long story behind this, which I wont go into here. Maybe some other time. In any case, as a BIG Yes fan from way back, I was enthralled to see all 8 of the most important Yes players on stage at the same time.

there with a fine young lady who just about crushed my arm she was so overwhelmed. the show was amazing, osseus (sp) labyrinth were amazing, and i still cant get over it... they played triad :):)

No question about it. The absolute BEST concert was Paul McCartney last year in Atlanta (I think it was a year ago, today, actually).

Since I was a touring musician for a number of years, I'm kind of jaded by concerts. But my God, I was up and singing and even -gulp- dancing. That old fart can rock...the...house.

U2 - Joshua Tree Tour - Boston Garden 9/18/87....the lighting system broke down, they played over half of the set with the house lights on....absolutely unbelievable...Bono came out in a Larry Bird shirt for the encores....

Clapton Reptile tour in Atlanta. Was an amazing show, and his back-up band was spectacular.

The opening group was horrible - could hardly hear them, and the quality was worse than straight feedback. We were worried that our couple-hundred-dollar tickets were going to go to waste. When they left, the first thing the roadies did was lay out a huge oriental rug in the middle of the stage. Clapton never left it throughout the show. His songs were amazing, and the improvs blew me away. Well done.

Medeski, Martin and Wood in the music club where I bartended in the early 90's (back before MMW became a noodling patchouli band) was a good time.

The best show, however, was the farewell show of a band of friends of mine. They were fairly small time and toured the southeastern US without too much notice, but that show was great. 1,500 people dancing and cheering on a group of guys who I drank beer and laughed with... It was a pretty moving night. Long live the Dingo Fish...

Heehee. The best concert I've ever been to was at the Jackson Schoolhouse in my suburban town...it's really a neighborhood clubhouse. This band that is now called University (Postal back then, check them out on www.mp3.com) played, and they were the reason we went...four adorable guys who could actually play their instruments and sing like angels. I was probably sixteen at the time, dancing with my friends, having a great time. We knew every word to every song. Ohh, good times. ;)

probably the best overall concert was when i went to go see Orbital at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC back in umm... 2000 i think... they had Death in Vegas and the Crystal Method opening - they were fantastic, and i was thinking to myself "how is orbital going to top this?"

well, they did. they did big time.

my runner up is when i went to see the indigo girls play at the PNC bank arts center just last summer - K's Choice opened for them. This wasn't such a big deal in itself cause i've seen both bands several times before, but BOTH of them this time did acoustic sets - Amy & Emily just alone with their guitars together are probably the two most talented female musicians EVER. throw in an AWESOME acoustic set from the chick from k's choice and her brother (the rest of the band had gone back home) and you had an unbelievable night... wow.

i was at first going to say the jesus lizard, but i must instead choose the one and only time i saw nirvana. they weren't even scheduled to play the show, but came onstage while we were waiting for mudhoney. the surprise added to the experience for sure, plus it was very soon after nevermind came out - so people were pretty excited about nirvana at that moment. i got really really sweaty

I am definately not a KISS fan. I probably can't even name one of their songs, but I bought my wife tickets as a present and I have to admit they put on a hell of a show.

I have seen a lot of shows, but this one was by far the best:

Guns N Roses/Udo Dirksneider from ACCEPT/Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction.

It was in Burlington, IOWA at the Memorial auditorium. It was a freakin' barn. About 1000 people and the place was packed. This was just before the band went through the roof. The album was only out for a bit.

The show started at 7:30pm and by 1am the auditorium made GnR...MADE them get off the stage..

The opening acts were awesome as well, but Guns came out and played everything off of A4D then they played the tunes from Lies..then..Whole lotta Rosie..and at one point Slash screams out..what DO you guys want us to play? people were shouting out tunes and they were playing riffs and songs from the top of their heads..

What an amazing night..when my friends and I left we thought that this band would be huge..but we would have never thought in a million years what a DICK Axl would end up being..he was awesome that night..

I never saw them again--basically because I felt there would be no way they could top that performance..

and from what friends and the media stated, I was right!

I've seen some great shows, allot of great shows. But the one that stands out in my mind the most was Paul McCartney in Orlando Florida in 1993. This was his last concert of his last world tour ever. And he and his band played like they would never play again. 4.5 hours of music, lights, pirotechnics, and just pure entertainment. Paul played everything from The Beatles, Wings, to the current albulm, Off the Ground. I don't think he left out anything. The greatest moment for me was when, at the end of the show, Paul sang Maybe I'm Amazed to Linda with her in his arms. Truly a gem memory in my mind.

I can still hear him singing Baby you can Drive my Car.. Beep Beep.. Beep Beep.. Yeah!

And sorry, I have to mention one more.. Elton John and Billy Joel, also in Orlando. In a freezing November rain, I sat through an awsome show. Probably would have been my #1 show if it weren't for that..

For me it was probably Pink Floyd at the Meadowlands (1994, I think.) During Comfortably Numb when the massive mirrorball popped out of the middle of the floor and the spun it at a point for a few seconds where it looked like the ball was standing still and the stadium was spinning was so ungodly cool.

Pink Floyd- 1975 england, I don't remember where(I was stoned), They showed movies on a big screen above them and had a plane crash into the stage during the DSOTM set. I was completely gone and it still made a great impression on me.

best concert for me would probably have been foo fighters. they really knew how to work the crowd.

I've only been to one, Linkin Park.

It wasn't bad, but the queue was so long we missed the first band, Adema also played there. They weren't half bad.

Pearl Jam, Red Rocks Colorado. Summer of like... I dunno... '98 or something. After the Vitology album, but before they started recording crap. It rained all night, but being drunk and soaked, bellowing along with "Black" was the greatest.

The most fun concert for me was the Sanitarium Tour in 2000. Metallica, Kid Rock, Korn, and System of a Down. Powerman 5000 was there also but I don't like them.

The most memorable concert was Train at the Ritz in Raleigh. But the next two concerts I'm going to might be more memorable.

Haven't been to a lot of concerts but I just saw Red Hot Chili Peppers a couple of weeks ago. Great show. Best live albums for me off the top of my head have to be between The Allman Brothers Band : Live at the Filmore East (its practically a Jazz album its so improvisational), and The Roots : Come Alive.

The first concert I ever saw is still the best it was the Beatles summer on '66 Memphis Tn.

theres two that stick out in my mind more than any others, both at the Agora in Cleveland ...

Bouncing Souls/Anti-Flag on Sept. 19, 2002... though not a fan of Anti-Flag at all, they put on one hell of a show, followed by the Bouncing Souls playing an amazing set. For an encore both bands came out on stage, and began playing as one band, covering the Souls' "The Freaks, the Nerds, and the Romantics" and then covering A-F's "Thats Youth." The cover of Thats's Youth was amazing. so much energy and feeling went into playing that song, it was definately unforgettable.

The other concert that sticks out in my mind is the Dropkick Murphys in October or November (i forget which) of 2001. They played an almost hour and a half set, followed by the entire audience rushing the stage and climbing up on it for the final 3 or 4 songs.

All in all, id have to say that the Bouncing Souls/ AF concert was my favorite

Tool in nov 2002. Was very surreal and a total mind fuck, and I wasn't even tripping on anything.
