Sometimes I hear a song that affects me for a number of reasons.

I thought it might be neat to start up a thread and see what songs affect you.

I'll start off.

Nickelback - Someday

I haven't seen the video for this song yet, and therefore I "mis-understood" it, but despite this, I use the meaning/explanation I got from the audio over the video.

Anyway, I took this song to be about a guy that was in a serious relationship that ended badly. I think the two loved each other very much, but something happened. And things went too far; they broke up, and now he truly misses her.

After talking to friends, it seems the video is actually about death, and that changes things a little, but I prefer my initial interpretation of it.

This song affects me in a way that I envy the singer of the song. Why? Because he seems to have experienced true love. Granted, it is gone now, but in order to miss someone as much as he does, and for it to tear him up inside as much as it does, he must have really loved her before she left him.

They say you don't realize what you have until it is gone, and I think that is definitely the case here.

I haven't experienced true love yet, and therefore this song really affects me, and in a way I envy the guy in it, because he has. And that love was so great, that when she is gone it's an unbearable feeling for him. So in a way, it must have been great while it lasted.

Again, in a way I "misunderstood" the song, at least in terms of the music video, but honestly, I think music is definitely open to interpretation; and that is why it's so great.

Does anyone else have songs that really affect them, for any reason? If yes, how do they affect you, emotionally, or otherwise, and why?
