Reverend Horton Heat Thread
Okay. EDIT: This is now the how fuckin' badass is The Rev. thread.
I shouldn't be starting this thread but I must know... Anyone know who the guy is in my avatar? The title should help. Please tell me that out of all of you freaks that one person knows who that is. And it's a hint that I started this thread in Tilted Music. |
Reverend Horton Heat? Only music related reverend I know. :)
|
HAH found it.
and 440sixpack is right too. :) link: http://www.maximum-ink.com/archive/9...l/feature.html Second picture on the right. Should look a wee bit familiar. |
|
meanSpleeen gets an extra belly rub for finding not only the picture but the exact site I swipt it from.
And now... ARE YOU A SINNER? I'm so glad you all knew who he was. |
Interestingly enough, the first time I've heard his music was on the "Saturday Morning Cartoons" CD, where he covered the Johnny Quest and "Stop that Pidgeon" theme songs. Great stuff!
However, while I know who he is, I barely know his tunes. Anyone recommend particular tracks? Albums? |
Jezebel
Jezbel. If ever a devil was born, Without a pair of horns it was you, Jezebel it was you. If ever an angel fell, Jezebel, It was you, Jezebel it was you. If ever a pair of eyes, promised me paradise Decieving me, grieving me, leaving me blue It was you, Jezebel, it was you. If ever a devil's plan, was made to torment man, It was you, Jezebel it was you. Could be better had I never known, A lover such as you, Forsaking dreams and all, For the siren call of your arms. Like a demon love possessed me, you upset me constantly, What evil star is mine, That my fate's design should be. If ever a pair of eyes, Promised me paradise, Deceiving, believing, believing you It was you, Jezebel, it was you. If ever a devil was born, Without a pair of horns it was you, Night and day, Every way, Jezebel, Jezebel, Jezebel! Someone sang it to me a long time ago,I bought liquer in the front. Liquer beer and wine's a flashing sign I seeeeeeeeee |
BUy all of them. It's easy that way.
|
The Rev Rules. And this coming from an 80's New Wave fan.
|
Shit, OK... who do you think you're talking to?
...do I know who he is?... |
Jezebel is a cover of an oldies song btw.
I think Liquor in the Front is the best, but many would argue that Full Custom Gospel Sounds is the best. Only one I don't like is Space Heater. I've seen the band over a dozen times live. A must see. |

Psycho. :D |
Just saw them live a couple months ago. They put on a good show.

liquor up front, poker in the rear...
gotta love it, man. |
IT'S MARTINI TIME
|
he's awesome. i wanted to see him on my birthday two years ago but it was midterms >=( i'd still like to see him some time. i can only imagine how energy packed the show would be..
|
Just found out they're playing here on the 18th. It'll only cost me $10 too. $20 would get me a pass to 43 acts playing over 10 days, but there's only one worth seeing, and the only other band I really care about is By Divine Right, and they're opening for The Rev.
Apparently Jesus loves me. |
You've got a friend in Jimbo. You've got a friend in Jimbo!
|
"My life changed completely by the low-flyin' planes"
The Rev is awsome live. The best is when he and the guitar player share playing their guitars by putting one hand on each of the guitars and playing them at the same time. |
I thought I'd bring this thread back to say I found an awesome version of the song "400 bucks" by the band Supersuckers. It would be worth checking out.
|
Liquer beer and wiiiiine's a flashing sign I see...
|
In 1998 I saw the Rev in Chicago while I was there on business and he was amazing.
In 2000 I saw the Rev at the House of Blues in freakin' Disneyland and he, too, was amazing. Last year, he was actually opening for the Sex Pistols at the Warfield in San Francisco, and I had free tickets through a music industry connection, but my connection had the tickets, turned up an hour and a half late, and we missed The Rev. I was sore. |
They are playing at the Hootenany in So. Cal. with the Cramps and others. I saw them 10 years ago with the same bands (they're bringing back all the same bands from the first Hootenany 10 years ago... it's a punk/rockabilly/white trash fiesta)
"She's gotta bad reputation. You're the kinda girl I'd like to meet." Smoke 'em if you've got 'em |
He's playing in Denver at the end of July for our scooter fest... Scooters, Booze, and the Rev... Can't beat that.

Interracial Cowboy Homo Kind of Love.
Yes indeedy, A true Cow-Poke in every sense of the word. I'm not a big fan of rockabilly, but the Rev is just Ducky in my book. |
you got your toy, you gotta use it, use it, use it, use it!
Do it one time!
Possibly the ROCKIN'est masturbation song ever. |
God Bless the Reverend Horton Heat!
They are awesome live! I recommend seeing them at LEAST once before you die, but if possible, go to all of the shows you can! |
If all fails, you canget the "Live and in COLOR" DVD and watch it at full volume. :)
The Jimbo introduction on it was hilarious. "I'd like to introduce a special friend, a man who once....beat the crap out of me and sent me to the hospital to get thirty stiches put in my face... *applause* Don't clap for that....." |
